On April 13, our Creative BITS team gathered at the Harlingen Public Library for an afternoon rooted in creativity, reflection, and connection.

Young participants explored the power of memory and storytelling through engaging writing activities that invited them to share pieces of their lives, their voices, and their imagination. From heartfelt reflections to creative expression, the room was filled with inspiration and a strong sense of community.

A special thank you to our newest team member, Victoria Bernal, for planning and facilitating such a meaningful experience. Your leadership and heart for storytelling truly brought this workshop to life!

Tomorrow at 5:30 PM, Creative BITS will be hosting a Teen Creative Writing Workshop at the Harlingen Public Library.

This program is all about giving young voices a space to write, create, and share their stories. Through fun prompts and conversation, teens will explore storytelling inspired by their experiences, imagination, and the world around them.

If you’re a teen who enjoys writing—or just wants to give it a try—come join us. Bring a notebook, bring your ideas, and be ready to create.

🌳Celebrate the coming of Spring early at the Mercedes Arbor Day tree planting event!🌳

Join the city in bringing a little more of Mother Nature to the Dome Safety Center, 1202 N. Vermont Ave. on Tuesday, February 24th, starting at 9am.

Participants can register onsite and will be given FREE trees to take home as a thank you for their time!

Today we honor Rolando Hinojosa, a son of Mercedes whose words gave voice to the borderlands and dignity to everyday lives. Through the Klail City Death Trip, he showed us that community is made of memory, humor, struggle, and love.

Your legacy lives on in classrooms, libraries, and conversations across the Valley and beyond. We continue the work by listening, writing, and remembering.

Join us the evening of Saturday, January 10th at Rocket Ranch for a night of dark sky stargazing, constellation stories, and comet demonstrations! Admission is free and fun will be had for your whole family! ⭐️🔭

🎄✉️ Today’s the Last Day! ✉️🎄

Today is the final day to turn in your Christmas cards at the Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Library in Mercedes.

If you’ve written a card—or still have time to write one—please bring it by today and help us spread a little extra warmth, kindness, and holiday cheer to those who will receive them. A few thoughtful words can truly make someone’s season brighter.

🎄Bring a little holiday cheer to the residents of the Mid-Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation this season!🎄

CreativeBITS will be hosting a Christmas Card Drive all week long, December 15th - 19th, here at our library! Feel free to bring your own cards or take from the ones we'll be proving, located at our front desk, and write a kind and special message to those needing a little more warmth this holiday season.💖

Our holiday cards will be available while supplies last. Participants of ALL AGES are welcome to write heartwarming messages in English or Spanish! Thank you and Happy Holidays to all!🎅🎄☃️
