🍂🍁FALL ART CLASSES 🍄✨

Registration is open for fall art classes at Copper Country Community Arts Center!

Classes offered include linocut printmaking, black and white photography, pinhole photography, watercolor painting for youth and adults, acrylic painting, stop motion animation for youth, writing, pastels, metal stamping for jewelry making, letterpress printing, and more.

Classes are education based and focus on teaching techniques, understanding mediums, and how to properly use tools/equipment. The Arts Center has a classroom and studio spaces dedicated to instruction. Programs are supported by a grant from the Keweenaw Community Foundation.

Deadlines to register are coming up and space is limited!

Opening reception: Thursday, September 10 from 6-7:30pm

The September exhibition in the CCCAC Coté Gallery (formerly the Kerredge Gallery) features freeform stitching by Peg McNinch. Her work includes materials such as hand dyed fabric, wool roving, and thread. She combines those with objects like rusted metal, stones, bark, beads, and twigs while using embroidery stitching techniques like seed, French knot, bullion, back, and satin to create organic, flowing wall hangings and fiber sculpture.

Join us for the opening reception on Thursday, September 10 from 6-7:30pm.

🧵The public is also welcome to Slow Stitch Circle with Peg McNinch the following day on Friday, September 11 from noon-2pm. No fee, bring a project to work on!

✨✨ARTISTS! Apply now for the 50th annual Poor Artists Sale✨✨
Deadline to apply: October 6th

The application period is open for the 50th annual Poor Artists Sale! The Poor Artists Sale is an annual juried holiday art fair hosted by the Copper Country Community Arts Council as a benefit for the Community Arts Center in Hancock. The event will be held at the CLK Gymnasium in Calumet on Saturday, December 5th.

One of the longest running holiday art shows in the Copper Country, it draws established artists and large crowds of holiday shoppers. The event is a competitive juried art fair. All artists and craftspersons in any media who make their own original work may apply.

MORE INFO: Artists who would like to apply for a booth space should visit the CCCAC website at www.coppercountryarts.com and click Poor Artists Sale Application. Artists may also stop by the Arts Center during open hours to pick up a hard copy of the application. Deadline to apply is Tuesday, October 6 by 6pm.

The Copper Country Community Arts Center in Hancock is featuring work by local artist Clyde Mikkola in the Coté Gallery (formerly the Kerredge Gallery) August 6-29, 2026. Clyde Mikkola is well known for his copper country scenes, and this exhibit will feature paintings from Lake Superior to Hungarian Falls, and other local favorite places.

Mikkola states, “I am inspired to create using the medium that feels right. This approach leaves a lot of leeway concerning what I can do and gives me the greatest enjoyment.”

What a great first session of Summer Arts Camp! Students in grades 3rd-6th experienced a week learning about clay, watercolor painting, stop motion animation, artist trading cards, journal making, writing, field sketching, and more excellent art activities taught by artists!

Stop Motion Animation Class for Youth Ages 8-16 with Ian Raymond
Saturday, August 8th from 11am-2pm at the Copper Country Community Arts Center in Hancock!

📸Learn how to animate frame by frame and create short stop-motion clips. students will create their own objects to animate and bring them to life by using instructed stop-motion techniques. Each student will work individually or with others to create a short animation movie.

Fee: $65 or $55/ student for member families
Deadline: August 6
