We are incredibly grateful to receive $237,623 through Copper Shores’ 2026 Nonprofit Capital Improvement Grant for heating upgrades and roof repairs at the Hancock Community Hub. In early Spring of this year, we experienced a failure of our existing heating system, and Copper Shores' help at this critical moment is truly fundamental to the continued success of our project. 🙏
Housed in the former Hancock Central High School, this building is more than 100 years old and listed on the Michigan Register of Historic Places. Maintaining and updating a historic building comes with unique challenges, which makes investments in critical infrastructure essential.
Today, the Hub is home to a growing network of small businesses and nonprofits, while also offering community spaces for events, gatherings, and connection. And we’re just getting started!
Our vision is to continue growing the Hub’s impact by:
- Offering increasing numbers of free community activities
- Supporting local nonprofits and small businesses
- Providing affordable rental spaces for events and connection
- Developing the building’s potential as a disaster-resilience center
