This is the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 17 Hammond, Indiana official page. This is a national organization with state and local representation.

The established 90+ years ago to aid and assist our veteran community in gaining the benefits they earned while in military service. Their role has expanded to support many different types of veterans in gaining their just benefits and in aiding the veteran community in every aspect of life.

🇺🇸 Join us for the 5th Annual Walk for the DAV! 🇺🇸🚶‍♀️

Come out and support our local disabled veterans on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at the Schererville Police Department.

📍 Location: 25 East Joliet St., Schererville, IN
🕣 Registration begins: 8:30 AM
🚶 Walk starts: 10:00 AM

This event helps raise funds that directly benefit our local disabled veterans and supports the mission of Disabled American Veterans: empowering veterans to live high-quality lives with dignity and respect.

🚨 VETERANS TORNADO ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE TODAY 🚨

RIGHT NOW until 7:00 PM today, DAV representatives are in the parking lot of the Marine Corps League Howlin Mad Detachment 93 – “Tun Tavern” to assist veterans who may have been affected by the recent tornadoes.

Directions: Go north on Hendricks St. from 73rd Ave.

Please stop by immediately if you need assistance. We cannot promise they will be available any other day at this moment.
