This month has been our busiest in our 4 year history.
The food pantry served 243 households equalling 774 people!!! The large majority from Jefferson Township. The rest from Western Wayne County. Williamsburg to Milton. Our focus is on the food deserts that have no options for food assistance.
Our Personal Care Pantry serves 81 families.
We also provide a large amount or snack and drinks to the high school and the Library each week. The marching band and our Senior center pick up every month as well.
We were able to provide 2 skids of hygiene kits to shelters and resource centers in the surrounding area.
I cannot thank our volunteers enough. They make this happen not me.
Krisann, Jane, Kevin, Jessica, Bob, Kevin, Andrea, Reid Hospice. I’m sure I have forgotten some and I apologize. Until you are here people have no idea the work it takes to make this happen. I am very fortunate to have dedicated people invested like this.

WOW! What a day at the pantry!

Today we were bursting at the seams, serving 130 families through our food pantry and another 40 families through our personal care pantry! That’s a whole lot of neighbors helping neighbors, and we are so thankful to be able to do it!

With that being said, we do want to share a little reminder. As stated on our weekly flyers and website, our service area is limited to Western Wayne County. We currently serve 10 communities. That’s nine more than the one community we originally set out to serve!

We wish we could help everyone. We really do. But we are one of the smaller pantries among the 20+ serving Wayne County. There are countless hours of work happening behind the scenes, building relationships, finding resources, picking up donations, and stretching every dollar and every food item as far as we possibly can. We are incredibly proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish, but we also have to recognize our limits to make sure we can continue serving the families who depend on us.

One question we hear often is, “Why doesn’t anyone in our community do what you guys do?”

And our answer is always pretty simple. They can and we’re happy to help share our secrets!

Imagine what Wayne County could look like if every community came together to take care of its neighbors. If local leaders, churches, businesses, towns, and townships worked together to make sure the families in their own backyards had access to the things they need.

We could begin closing the gaps in our food deserts and building communities that are healthier, happier, safer, and stronger.

Hmm… that sounds an awful lot like our mission statement, doesn’t it?

It’s a simple idea, but one we believe in wholeheartedly.

So we encourage you to start conversations in your own communities. Reach out to your local leaders, churches, towns, and township officials. Ask what resources are available, who is being served, and what could be done to help more families right where you live.

Wayne County has some of the highest rates of working families struggling with hunger in Indiana. These are our neighbors who are working, doing their best, and still finding that in today’s economy, their paychecks just don’t stretch far enough.

People aren’t asking for a handout. Sometimes they just need a helping hand. And that little bit of support can make all the difference in the world.

We can’t do it all, and we don’t expect anyone else to either. But imagine what we could accomplish if every community did a little.

Stronger communities start with neighbors helping neighbors. And that’s something we can ALL be part of.

This Friday is Food pantry Friday 10-4. Everyone did a great job the last pantry spreading out arrival times so we were not drowning all day. Thank you for that. It was much appreciated.
After you’re done visiting us be sure to go see our new neighbors at the Hagerstown Thrift Store.

We are looking for some volunteers to help with our food deliveries. Lifting, twisting and bending are required. Our deliveries are typically the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 9:30-noon.

Yesterday we served 112 families in the food pantry and 49 families in the personal care pantry. Thank you to our amazing volunteers from Reid Hospice and Reid Ems.

Good things happen when nonprofits work together!

Recently, NCCC received a HUGE donation of pet food, and we were able to spread the love a little further!

Not only did we stock our pantry and secure our pet food supply for the next several distributions, but we were also able to share with two other amazing local nonprofits!

🐾 Helping Paws Project received specialized dog food to help the rescued and medically complex pups in their care get healthy and one step closer to their forever homes!

🐴 Brighter Path received support for their mission of enriching lives through equine-assisted therapeutic learning!

At NCCC, we’ve always believed that supporting our community means supporting the organizations working hard to make it better, too!

Different missions, one community, and a whole lot of good happening when we work together! 💜

Just a reminder we can not fit 30 people in at 10. You are not going to miss anything if you come later other than over crowding. The last pantry we served 65 families in the first 45 minutes. That puts so much pressure and strain on the volunteers. We are open till 4. The parking lot doesn’t hold that many cars either. Please be kind and spread out the arrival times please and thank you.
