Without the generous support of our donors, providing mental health care services to students through the Brown County School-Based Mental Health initiative would not be possible.

Donor contributions in 2024-25, alongside subsidies and sliding scale support from partner provider agencies, ensured that school-based therapy was within reach for young people in our community who are facing barriers to care.

Mental health care should be accessible regardless of barriers. We are so grateful for the generosity of our donors and the provider agencies who have partnered with Brown County school districts to provide school-based therapy.

Intervention and consistent support from providers participating in the School-Based Mental Health initiative has helped Brown County students work through mental health challenges without having disruptions in the classroom.

Teachers, school social workers and school counselors reported that students receiving mental health care services through the initiative experienced fewer behavioral referrals in the 2024-25 school year. School personnel complete post-assessment outcomes and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) for students discharged from therapy.

Because of the mental health care services provided through this initiative, schools can focus on serving students, and students can focus on learning. It’s a win-win for positive impact!

Nearly 3 out of 4 students who received mental health care services through the Brown County School-Based Mental Health initiative during the 2024-25 school year showed improvement in coping with mental health challenges. This is reported by teachers, school social workers, and school counselors in our area school districts, who complete post-assessment outcome documents and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) for students discharged from therapy.

We are grateful to our participating provider agencies and school districts for helping students in our community who have barriers to accessing mental health achieve better mental wellness.

Having improved mental wellness can help students better succeed inside and outside of the classroom. They can feel stronger, more resilient, and more confident when faced with life circumstances and challenges.

Providing mental care services to students on-site in our Brown County Schools is pivotal to our School-Based Mental Health initiative.

While participating provider agencies may provide some in-clinic options for students when school is not in session, most services are available right in the school. This means that the initiative is able to reach more students with barriers who need mental health care.

The Brown County School-Based Mental Health initiative is investing in access and empowering mental wellness. The initiative reached 375 students this past school year, helping our young people to thrive as they create their life stories.

Through supporting the School-Based Mental Health initiative in Brown County, Connections for Mental Wellness works with area provider agencies to provide mental health services to students in our community facing barriers to care.

During the past school year, Connections worked with 5 Brown County-based provider agencies to help provide needed mental health care in 8 Brown County school districts. As a result, nearly 4,600 hours of therapy were delivered to our students!
