Last year, with the help of a few amazing police officers, we got to quietly put together gift bags for some of our homeless veterans.
We packed about $3,500 worth of items into their bags – things like:
• Soft blankets
• A book to read
• A small gemstone as a reminder of their worth
• Fancy drinks & chocolate (because dignity includes treats)
• Snacks, paracord, keychains
• Toothbrushes, toothpaste, socks, and other basics
We split everything into about six gift bags per veteran, then tucked it all into a big trash bag with a ribbon on top so they could carry it back to their spot without anyone realizing they were carrying something valuable. No crowds. No news. Just quiet kindness.
💛 This year has been harder.
With everything going on, I haven’t been able to really “market” this or raise funds like I did before. I already have some items for the veterans, but I’d really love to add more so each one feels seen and cared for again.
There’s no press and probably no photos (last year we were able to get one picture, but I can’t promise that again because it depends on their comfort and privacy).
If you choose to give, it’s pretty much a pure, behind-the-scenes act of love. You likely won’t see where it goes—you just have to trust that it’s going straight into the hands of men and women who served, who are now sleeping outside, and who light up when they realize someone remembered them.
If you’d like to help me fill the bags this year so I can get everything ordered in time for delivery, you can donate here:

On Purpose Journey Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit; if you’d like a donation acknowledgment letter for your records, just message me your email after you give and I’ll send one.
Even $5 or $10 helps – truly.
If you can’t donate, a share would mean a lot and might help this reach someone who can.
Thank you for helping me love on our veterans in a quiet but powerful way. 🇺🇸🧡
