IMPORTANT MESSAGE :
11/19/2020
Dear Gulfport School District Families:
On behalf of the Gulfport School District, we would like to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. Even in the height of a pandemic, we all have so much to be thankful for during this season. As we continue to navigate the uncharted waters of the COVID-19 Pandemic, please be reminded to social distance and keep those masks on in public places. The Mississippi Department of Health recommends that Thanksgiving gatherings and celebrations are small and held in outdoor venues.
The Gulfport School District will reopen Monday, November 30, 2020, continuing with the
District’s Face-to-Face and School-to-Home format.
As we watch the COVID-19 updates each day, there continues to be a rise in cases and hospitalizations. Frankly, there is a lot of fear that the Thanksgiving break may cause the number of positive cases to spike. Please social distance and wear your masks so the Gulfport School District can continue its path of very few positive COVID-19 cases among our students and staff.
If the numbers continue to climb forcing the District to shutdown like the one that was mandated in March, we will shift to our School-to-Home plan. An instructional lesson (hard copy) was sent home for each of your child’s classes. THIS IS NOT REQUIRED WORK at this time. It is being distributed in case there is an outbreak and we are NOT able to return to our current model for delivering education in the Gulfport School District. If the worst-case scenario arises and we cannot return to school, we will implement our school-to-home virtual concept as well.
Everyone, please make smart healthy decisions, social distance, and wear those masks. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Break. We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday, November 30, 2020, healthy and ready to complete first semester.
Go Admirals!
Sincerely,
Gulfport School District Administration
