Happy Juneteenth! ❤️🖤💚

Today, I celebrate freedom, resilience, and the unbreakable spirit of our people.

As an African American woman and Mrs. Black Ghana, I often find myself reflecting on how powerful it is to stand with one foot in the story of those who survived slavery in America and the other in a country that continues to preserve the beauty, culture, and traditions of Africa.

Over the past year, my journey has taken me deeper into Ghana, where I’ve been welcomed by communities, honored with leadership responsibilities, and reminded that our connection to the continent is more than history. It’s living. It’s breathing. It’s family.

Juneteenth is a reminder that freedom is not just something we inherit. It’s something we honor through how we live, how we serve, and how we uplift others.

Today, I honor the ancestors who endured so much so that generations after them could dream bigger. I honor the communities that continue to fight for equity and opportunity. And I celebrate the beauty, strength, brilliance, and joy that Black people bring to the world every single day.

From America to Ghana, from our past to our future, may we never forget where we’ve come from and may we never stop building where we’re going.

A daughter of Mississippi. A Queen in Ghana. A woman standing on the shoulders of those who made both possible.

Happy Juneteenth, family. 🇺🇸🇬🇭👑

What happens when a crown arrives on the same day Ghana makes history? 🇬🇭👑

Talk about perfect timing.

My name is Alexis Williams, and I am honored to represent Ghana as a contestant in the Miss Black International AM Miss Black International Ambassador Class of 2026.

Today, I received my official MBIA crown and sash, and on the very same day, Ghana secured its first World Cup victory with a 1-0 win over Panama in overtime! ⚽️🇬🇭

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but when it’s your season, God has a way of lining things up perfectly.

A new crown. A new chapter. A win for Ghana. A win for me.

Being part of the MBIA Class of 2026 means joining a sisterhood of women committed to leadership, service, culture, and impact. It means using my voice and platform to create meaningful change in the communities I serve.

My platform is centered on child loss and miscarriage awareness, inspired by the life and legacy of my daughter, Lauren Taylor. Through my work with the Healing Crown Alliance Foundation, I advocate for grieving mothers, support underserved communities in Ghana, and encourage women to heal, lead, and live boldly.

During this journey, I hope to make an impact by bringing greater awareness to pregnancy and infant loss, building stronger connections between Africa and the Diaspora, and reminding women that their story does not end with their pain.

As a proud Diasporan with deep roots and a heart connected to Ghana, today feels extra special. The Ghana Black Stars showed up and showed out, and I’m stepping into this next season with that same energy.

Let’s go Ghana! 🇬🇭

People always ask me why I still compete in pageants.

Truthfully? Because pageantry gave me permission to stop hiding.

It gave me a microphone after grief.
It gave me sisterhood after isolation.
It gave me confidence after seasons that tried to break me.

Now I compete differently.

I compete for the little Black girls watching.
For the women rebuilding themselves.
For the mothers healing quietly.
For the women who were told they were “too much” until they realized they were called.

This season is bigger than me.

Ghana, let’s go. 🇬🇭👑
