Happy Donut Day! 🍩 This morning, we had the privilege of spending time with the veterans at The Armed Forces Retirement Home - Official , sharing donuts, coffee, and plenty of gratitude for their service. Our volunteers also made special stops to drop off treats to local first responders across the community.

Huge thanks to our amazing sponsors, TrueCare and Gulf Coast Community Federal Credit Union , for making this meaningful tradition possible. And an extra shoutout to Fantasy Donuts and Finest Grind Coffee House for providing the delicious donuts and coffee.

A warm doughnut became a reminder that someone cared, and that one act of love has rippled through generations.

More than a century ago, the “Donut Lassies” entered the WWI huts with hands full of flour, sugar, and the honest intention to lift the spirits of the soldiers who were far from home. Against all odds, that small act of kindness made a lasting difference.

On June 7, 1938, The Salvation Army first celebrated National Doughnut Day as a fundraiser during the Great Depression to support families facing hardship. A wonderful act that mirrored and honored the legacy of those courageous women.

Today, at The Salvation Army, we carry this purpose forward each day, meeting local needs with love and compassion through our food services 🍽️. A simple recipe in action. A lasting impact.

Because from the very beginning, the first ingredient was love.
