Unified summer fun is on its way! You are invited to Athene North Shore at Easter Lake for Unified activities all summer long. Athletes and Unified partners can try fishing, pontoon rides, kayaking, nature walks, bike rides, and other outdoor activities. All events are free and will be held on Mondays and Tuesdays during June and July. Adaptive equipment will be provided by Athene North Shore.

Alongside the sports competitions at the Special Olympics USA Games, athletes, Unified partners, and mentors from across the country will be diving into what it means to be leaders in Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools at the Youth Leadership Experience.
They will learn how to promote inclusion, build Unified communities, and be voices for change back home. Through this experience, they’ll be gaining the tools to lead, advocate, and create more inclusive schools. The future of the Unified Generation is bright! ✨

This event is about so much more than just winning medals. It’s teammates cheering louder for each other than for themselves. It’s hugs and high fives between strangers that become friends. It’s small moments that remind us why inclusion matters in a big way.
To every athlete who competed at Summer Games: congratulations on your hard work, and thank you for always bringing the energy, joy, and tough competition.
To the volunteers, sponsors, coaches, officials, families, and fans who kept everything running: thank you for showing up, pitching in, and helping create a weekend these athletes deserve. Summer Games simply doesn’t happen without you.💕

This Memorial Day, we honor the heroes who gave everything for the freedoms we cherish today.

At Special Olympics Iowa, we see courage every day — on playing fields, in Unified communities, and in the athletes who inspire us to lead with heart. Today, we pause to remember a different kind of courage: the selfless sacrifice of the men and women who served our country and never made it home. Because of them, we are able to build a world where inclusion, unity, and opportunity can thrive.

As we gather with family and friends this weekend, may we also carry gratitude for those whose legacy lives on through the freedoms we share.
