The Grimes Lions Club was proud to donate $2,500 to the Grimes Storehouse Food Pantry last week!

These funds were raised through our community's participation in this year's Holiday Flag Program. We are incredibly grateful for the support and love seeing our community come together to make a difference.

The Grimes Storehouse is always in need of additional donations. If you'd like to help, here are some of their most-needed items:

🍴 Food Items

Peanut butter
Boxed macaroni and cheese
Large jars/cans of pasta sauce

🏠 Household Essentials

Laundry detergent
Toilet paper
Dish soap
Baby wipes

👕 Children's Clothing

New or gently used sizes 4T/5T
Youth XS and Youth Small clothing
New undergarments
New socks

Grimes: Iowa native and proud U.S. Air Force pilot, Brad Hovey’s Funeral Procession will pass through Dallas Center today between 12 and 1pm. We wanted to share for those who were able to attend.

Be sure to check out Lions park! Newly opened!

Lions Park is open! Before you check out the new playground, pickleball court, or Leo the Lion statue, please keep these things in mind.

▪ Don't climb on Leo the Lion. He can get hot on warm days.
▪ The contractor is finishing some small landscaping items.
▪ The area is freshly seeded. Please stay off the future green space so the grass can grow.
▪ The north parking lot is being paved, but there is space on the south side for parking.

We'll share the ribbon-cutting date soon to celebrate the official opening of the park, but can't wait for you to experience it in the meantime!

Happy Flag Day, Grimes!

Flag Day was first observed on June 14, 1877 as a commemoration of the Second Continental Congress passing a flag resolution. This resolution stated: Resolved, That the flag of the United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new Constellation.

Flag Day was officially proclaimed by congress in 1949.
