Cub Scouts Pack 171 - Grimes, Iowa Cub Scout Pack 171 serves the Grimes Iowa area. We are a welcoming and active Cub Scout Pack for boys in grades K through 5.

Pack 171 has been in existance for over 60 years, making us one of the largest and oldest Packs in the state of Iowa. Our Charter Organization is the Grimes Lions Club. Pack 171 is joined in the scouting tradition with having the distinct pleasure of working with two Troops of Boy Scouts (boys grades 5 -12). Troop 171 represent Grimes with a large number of boys, many of whom have achieved the ultimate distinction of Eagle Scout rank.

Scouts were so thrilled to see how many helpers we have in our community! They learned how to be helpers themselves, and how they can contribute to their community.

If you missed us, the Grimes Storehouse Food Pantry has regular hours, and drop off locations at City Hall and the Grimes Public Library.

Be sure to check in with our friendly Cub Scouts for a list of what is most needed in our community. Then, drop your item(s) back with the scouts to load in the the Storehouse trailer.

Cubs On a Roll!

This Bike Safety adventure had scouts practicing helmet fit, hand signals and bike maintenance. Then they were off to put it all in action!

There were amazing skills unlocked, displays of tenacity and flexibility, and limits extended. Plus, just a lot of fun with friends. What an impressive group!

Another fast, fun in the books!

Scouts came for friends, snacks, and the chance to bring home hardware! In addition to our 1, 2 and 3rd Place winners, scouts also earned awards for outstanding design categories, and sportsmanship.

Thank you to our local school for graciously hosting us each year.

Cubs await this night for months!
The annual Camp In with Scouting America - Grimes Troop 171

What a thrill! The older scouts navigated cubs through three engaging stations:
Nerf target practice
Knot tieing
Cooking & Food Saftey

The evening ended with a movie and treats before lights out. Cubs had a great time, and the Troop is always welcoming and a great model of the Scout Law to the younger kids.

The Blue & Gold Ceremony is where scouts are recognized for their achievements. In particular, Arrow of Light scouts are presented with their Arrows, the highest award in Cub Scouting. This achievement marks all the hard work they've done building skills, working together and independently, and expanding their knowledge and perspectives. It acknowledges their work within the Scout Law, and calls them to journey onward.

Congratulations to all our scouts tonight! And a big congratulations for our two Arrow of Light scouts!
