It is with a heavy heart that we report the passing of our fellow Veteran, Aldo James Forneris.
Aldo proudly served his country as a Navy Veteran and held a historic place in our community as the final surviving World War II era Veteran of the Grimes American Legion.
Born and raised right here in Grimes, Aldo spent nearly a century dedicating his life to his family, his country, and the betterment of his hometown. Beyond his service in the Navy, Aldo was a true pillar of our community. He was one of Grimes' first EMTs (serving for 24 years), a driving force behind securing the town's first ambulance, a dedicated Scoutmaster, an active church member, and a driver who transported generations of local children on the school bus.
His legacy of hard work, volunteerism, and commitment to community is an inspiration to us all. An era has truly passed with him. We extend our deepest condolences to his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew and loved him.
