🏳️🌈🍷 With Gratitude to Bill, Laura and John Richardson & the Mallow Run Winery family…
Today’s news from Mallow Run Winery is bittersweet for all of us at Greenwood Pride.
While we’re heartbroken to hear that the w**ery side of Mallow Run will be closing later this year, more than anything, we are incredibly grateful.
When Greenwood Pride was just beginning, the Richardson family was among the first in our community to step forward and say, “We support you.”
And they didn’t just say it once.
Year after year, Mallow Run created their Equality w**e, proudly celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and donating a portion of the proceeds to Greenwood Pride. At a time when we were still finding our footing and building something new in Johnson County, that kind of support meant more than they may ever fully know.
Their commitment to our community is also why, in 2022, Greenwood Pride was proud to honor Mallow Run Winery with our OUTstanding Ally of the Year Award…recognizing the Richardson family and the Mallow Run team for consistently showing up, standing beside us, and using their business to make our community a more welcoming place.
They believed in our organization. They stood beside our community. And they helped us grow.
That is something we will never forget.
For over two decades, the Richardson family has poured so much more than w**e. They have poured their hearts into this community…supporting organizations, causes, neighbors, nonprofits, and countless people along the way.
So while this chapter coming to an end makes us incredibly sad, we also understand. After 27 harvests, more than two million bottles of w**e, countless events, and an extraordinary legacy of giving back, we hope the Richardson family gets the opportunity to slow down, enjoy some very well-earned retirement, and look back with tremendous pride at everything they built.
To the Richardson family and everyone at Mallow Run: thank you.
Thank you for believing in Greenwood Pride before thousands of people were walking through our festival gates.
Thank you for putting the word Equality on a bottle of w**e…and meaning it.
Thank you for standing with our LGBTQ+ community.
And most of all, thank you for being our friends.
The bottles may eventually disappear from the shelves, but the impact you have made on Greenwood Pride…and on this community…will remain for years to come.
