The Refuge Inc.

The Refuge Inc. The Refuge opened in 2007 as a non-denominational, faith based community outreach center.

It is supported by organizations, businesses, churches and individuals from our own community. It is our goal to provide physical, emotional, academic and spiritual needs of area residents. We are a community outreach center that is supported by local churches, organizations, businesses and individuals. We rely on the gifts, talents and wisdom of our community to be available to those in need. We

value our volunteers, board members, supporters, but most importantly our clients. We feel it is a priviledge to serve, and are grateful for the opportunity.

This week, we reached an exciting milestone in our 2026 Oven Mitt Meals initiative — we're officially halfway to our goal of preparing 1,000 meals this year!

A heartfelt thank-you to this amazing group from for rolling up their sleeves and helping make it happen. Because of your time, compassion, and willingness to serve, neighbors in our community are receiving nourishing meals and a reminder that they are cared for.

If you've ever thought about volunteering, we'd love to have you join us in the kitchen! It's more than preparing food—it's an opportunity for fun, fellowship, and making meaningful connections while making a real difference in the lives of others.

Help us keep the momentum going as we work toward our goal of 1,000 Oven Mitt Meals in 2026. Come cook, laugh, serve, and be part of something special!

Do you have any unwanted or unused medications at home?

There are many reasons to dispose of unwanted or unused medications.
• Prevents medications from getting into the wrong hands.
• Prevents potentially contaminating the environment or water supply.
• Prevents accidentally taking the wrong or expired medications.

The Town of Whiteland has a medication disposal collection program. We encourage you to bring your unwanted medications to Town Hall any time Monday-Friday from 8-12 pm and 1-5 pm. They are then collected by our officers and taken to a drug disposal company.
Please bag everything up and remember...no needles or syringes!!

God made us in his image. He created us to be like him, to control and watch over the world and everyone in it. To care for each other. He made each of us. He knew us before we were born and he knew the plans he had for us. He promises to love us forever. He carried us when we were young and he will carry us when we are old. Whenever we have troubles he will carry us to safety. He wants us to be brave. There are times we will have troubles but those troubles just make our faith in Him stronger. Sometimes our faith needs a fight so it can grow. Offer your life completely to Him. Let him change how you think and what you want in life. Use all you have to do what he has called you to. Don’t think that just because you are young that you don’t matter or can’t make a difference. Show others how to live by what you say, by the way you live, by your love for others, by your pure life. Continue to read scripture and share his word with others. This will impact his world more than you will ever see.

There were plenty of smiles during life skills time as the summer program of the Drop learned an important hands-on lesson: how to properly use an ice cream scoop! 🍦

While it may seem like a small skill, using an ice cream scoop helps develop fine motor skills, hand strength, coordination, and control—all important building blocks for everyday independence. Through practice and encouragement, students worked on controlling the scoop, applying the right amount of pressure, and successfully serving their own treat.

And what better way to celebrate a skill accomplished than with a delicious scoop of ice cream? That's a pretty sweet reward for hard work and determination!

We're proud of our students for embracing new challenges, building confidence, and discovering that even small skills can lead to big accomplishments. 💙🍨

Be careful how you live. Temptation is real. We have an enemy. Remember to have courage, be strong and do everything in love. Don’t assume you are always living the right way. Those of us who think they are always standing strong are the ones likely to fall to sin. But don’t get discouraged or defeated. We can trust God. He won’t let us be tempted or face more hardship than we can bear. He will always make a path forward. Even if we fall he will lift us up. Remember that our fight is not against people on this earth. We fight against spiritual powers of evil who want to invade our lives with darkness. Again, don’t get discouraged or defeated because Jesus is the light and he has overcome that darkness. Just keep living in him. His grace is all we need. When we are weak that is when his power shows up in us and shows off to others. Our weaknesses are good times because when we are weak is really when we show God’s strength.
