DAV MISSION STATEMENT

We are dedicated to a single purpose: empowering veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity. We accomplish this by ensuring that veterans and their families can access the full range of benefits available to them; fighting for the interests of America’s injured heroes on Capitol Hill; and educating the public about the great sacrifices and needs of veterans

transitioning back to civilian life. Providing free, professional assistance to veterans and their families in obtaining benefits and services earned
through military service and provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other agencies of
government.

2. Providing outreach concerning its program services to the American people generally, and to disabled veterans
and their families specifically.

3. Representing the interests of disabled veterans, their families, their widowed spouses, and their orphans before
Congress, the White House, and the Judicial Branch, as well as state and local government.

4. Extending DAV’s mission of hope into the communities where these veterans and their families live through a
network of state-level Departments and local Chapters.

5. Providing a structure through which disabled veterans can express their compassion for their fellow veterans
through a variety of volunteer programs.

SOMETHING BIG IS COMING FOR THE DAV Department of Indiana.

We're launching the DAV Indiana Leadership Academy - a hands-on training experience built to sharpen the leaders who carry out our promise to Indiana's veterans.

Whether you're a brand new officer or a seasoned commander, this is where you'll master the "how" behind the mission. Members can expect in-depth instruction on every chapter and department officer role, the inner workings of how DAV truly operates, and the programs that put our mission into action - from volunteer programs to advocacy, membership, and keeping our chapters strong and compliant with our Constitution & Bylaws.

This is more than a meeting. It's where Indiana's DAV leaders are made.

Every form. Every role. Every responsibility. One mission: empowering veterans to lead high-quality lives with the respect and dignity they've earned.

Stay tuned - details coming soon. You won't want to miss this.

Happy 251st Birthday to the United States Army!

On June 14, 1775, the Continental Congress established the Continental Army – even before the Declaration of Independence – and from that day forward, generations of brave men and women have answered the call to serve.

From the frozen winter at Valley Forge to the beaches of Normandy, from the jungles of Vietnam to the deserts of the Middle East, the American Soldier has stood as a guardian of freedom for 251 years. Through every era and every challenge, the Army has embodied courage, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to defend this nation and its values.

Today, we honor not only the legacy of those who came before, but also the soldiers serving right now – at home and around the world – who carry that proud tradition forward. To every veteran, every active-duty soldier, every member of the National Guard and Reserve, and every Gold Star family: thank you.

This Army Birthday, we say it loud and clear: This We’ll Defend.
Happy Birthday, U.S. Army. Here’s to 251 years of strength, honor, and service.
