Hoosier FWD was inspired by our son Gage who was born with Hydrocephalus & Spasticity. We also quickly learned that we were not alone.

Our son Gage was born with a genetic condition known as Hydrocephalus. Since then he has also been diagnosed with Hypertonia, Dystonia (Spasticity), Cerebral Palsy, Abducted thumbs, Hip Dysplasia, EOE & MTHFR. We have been fortunate to have an amazing support system allowing us to provide the best care for Gage. Our Inspiration to “Pay It Forward” came from a single donation from Pat McAfee when he hosted a contest to give back to a city that had given him so much.
Like many other families, we were told that we did not qualify for medical assistance because of his diagnosis or because we made too much money. Medical bills started piling up and we weren't sure what to do. The Christmas of 2012 Pat McAfee decided he wanted to give back to the city that had given hi so much; he asked for a 60 second video of “What Christmas Means to Me”. Out of all of the entries he chose our family. Then in 2014, a group of friends came together to help us raise money for Gage's medical bills by hosting a kickball tournament. We realized how lucky we were to have this support system, and created Hoosier FWD to be that support system for the other families out there like us.
Many thanks to all of our supporters, past golf outing participants, kickball participants, friends and family! Since we started our non-profit foundation we have been able to help several local families in similar situations. Insurance does not consider what is in the best interest of the child, so parents are left with making a tough decision. All because of your donations we have been able to help several families… 5 kids were able to attend a week long Sensory Skills Camp (second year), purchased an adaptive tricycle for a young boy and his family plus so much more. Thank you for your ongoing support; we hope to continue paying it forward one family at a time.
