Sometimes the biggest milestones begin with something as simple as a conversation.

For CeCe Cruz, that journey led to becoming the first in her immediate family to attend a four-year university. Along the way, Circle of Parents—a parent-led program of Catholic Charities—helped her family find support, encouragement and practical guidance when they needed it most.

Read the inspiring story of how a community of parents helped open new possibilities for one family. 💙

Our volunteers are always willing to serve. No matter the weather, they always come prepared, well-equipped, and ready to work 🤗

Volunteers are crucial to what we do here at Centro para Familias Hispanas and Catholic Parish Outreach. Without them we wouldn’t be able to serve all the people who need assistance. Volunteers outnumber staff and so I say the pantry is ran by volunteers. These wonderful volunteers choose to give their time and gas money to be here, to serve our community. We are blessed to have so many caring people in our workplace; there is love and respect and compassion all around. Volunteers greet and help with kind words and smiling faces. — Marlene Motsinger, Intake Specialist, Centro Para Familias Hispanas

Together with our volunteers, we achieve extraordinary acts of service. Without them, we would be only a small voice in a vast sea of need. It is our volunteers who bring hope to life within our community and throughout our organization, we truly could not do the things we do without them. — Liz McDowell, Regional Director, Catholic Charities - Tar River Region

As hurricane season approaches, our staff are strengthening preparedness alongside Catholic Charities teams across central and eastern North Carolina. Practicing together now helps us respond more effectively when communities are facing difficult days. 🌊
