🎤 Today at Rotary- June 9th

The Rotary Club of Greensburg was pleased to welcome Dr. Steve Kuniak, Executive Director of Experience Points, as our guest speaker at today’s meeting.

Dr. Kuniak presented "Leveling Up Mental Health,” an inspiring and insightful look at how innovative approaches can make a meaningful difference in our community. Experience Points is a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting mental health and gaming...creating safe, welcoming environments where individuals can build friendships, develop life skills, and experience a true sense of belonging.

His message highlighted the power of connection, creativity, and inclusion in supporting mental well-being, especially for those who may feel isolated.

Thank you, Dr. Kuniak, for sharing your important work and for helping us better understand how we can support mental health in new and impactful ways!

On Thursday, June 4, four members of the Jeannette High School Interact Club "volunteered" to help assemble the ten foot flag poles and flags for our Flags for Heroes. We assembled 75 poles but some are still "orphans" looking for a sponsor. The deadline to sponsor a flag for the hero in your life is Monday, June 15. THANKS Jeannette Interact for your help!!!!

The Rotary Club of Greensburg held its weekly meeting on Tuesday, featuring an engaging and informative presentation by guest speaker Laura Poskin, Executive Director of Age-Friendly Greater Pittsburgh.

Laura shared valuable insights on the importance of bringing generations together to reimagine how our neighborhoods are built, with a focus on advancing equity through advocacy, education, and innovation. It was a thoughtful and inspiring discussion that highlighted how communities can become more inclusive and supportive for individuals of all ages.

The Rotary Club of Greensburg kicked off the holiday week by celebrating birthdays and anniversaries at our weekly meeting on Tuesday, May 26th!

🎉 Happy Anniversary to:
Connor Herrington, Marcus Ragland, and a very special congratulations to Ray Charley on his 42nd year as a Rotary member!

In addition to the celebrations, Michael Rozell led our monthly trivia game, with questions all about Memorial Day history...a fun and meaningful way to wrap up the meeting!

✨ Rotary Spelling Bee Success! ✨

The Rotary Club of Greensburg proudly held its annual Spelling Bee on Wednesday, May 13th at Aquinas Academy...and what a fantastic event it was!

Students from Aquinas Academy and Metzgar, Fort Allen, West Point, West Hempfield, Hutchinson, Stanwood, and Nicely Elementary Schools participated, showcasing their hard work, confidence, and impressive spelling skills.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to club members Debby King and Alec Italiano for their hard work and dedication in organizing this wonderful program. We also extend our appreciation to all the club and community members who volunteered as hosts, judges, and assistants...your support made the event run smoothly!

Special thanks to Dirk Kaufman, Senior News Editor at the Tribune-Review, for serving as this year’s Word Master and helping guide our students through the competition.

We are also grateful to Discover Westmoreland for their generous in-kind donation of Go Discover Westmoreland children’s books for each participant. Every student also received a certificate and a Rotary T-shirt to recognize their achievement. 💙

🏆 Congratulations to our winner, Madeline R. from Aquinas Academy!
Madeline received a plaque and will also receive a $350 contribution to her educational savings fund. She will be invited to participate in the Holiday Parade, and her name will be added to a trophy that will be proudly displayed at her school.

Thank you to all participants...we’re already looking forward to next year!

🚧Down with the old, up with the new! 🚧

Many of you who commute along East Pittsburgh Street in Greensburg have probably noticed the Rotary LED sign by the former Rite Aid. After the old sign was damaged by a fallen tree during a storm, we’re excited to share that it has now been replaced with a new and improved digital display!

This upgraded sign offers a great opportunity for local visibility...especially for our community groups.

🌿✨ Keeping Greensburg Beautiful! ✨🌿

A big thank you to the dedicated members of the Rotary Club of Greensburg who generously gave their time this past Saturday to help keep our city looking its best! 💙

Volunteers rolled up their sleeves and cleaned up trash along Route 130 in front of Seton Hill University, making a visible difference for everyone who lives, works, and travels through the area.

Your commitment to service truly shows what community spirit is all about. Thank you for helping make Greensburg a cleaner, brighter place!

Celebrating Our Future Leaders 🎓

On Tuesday, May 12th, the Rotary Club of Greensburg proudly celebrated our local graduating seniors who were recipients of this year’s Rotary scholarships. The Scholarship Dinner was held at Giannilli’s II in Greensburg and brought together 62 Rotary members, students, and family members for a wonderful evening.

This year, the club awarded a total of $19,500 in scholarship funds, helping support these outstanding students as they take their next steps. The evening was led by Master of Ceremonies Judge Michele Bononi, who helped make the event truly special.

Pictured are the recipients of the Career Assistance Awards, the Kenneth P. Rutter Scholarship Award, and the Bonnie Barnhart Nursing Career Assistance Award!

Congratulations to all of our scholarship recipients! Once again, Rotary is working hard to serve our community and invest in its future. 💙💛
