Congrats to one of our newest Alumni celebrating 16 years in business!

Imagine you’re 27 years old, four months away from being married, you’ve settled into what you thought was your dream job and career. That was me 16 years ago when I made the decision to start this venture of self-employment and small business know as ProClean.

I woke up in a cold sweat and decided I needed to make a change. I decided I would rather scrub toilets than continue to do what i was doing in corporate America. I organized an LLC and told my soon to be wife I was quitting my job to clean houses. She was perplexed, but this wasn’t the first time I had had a crazy idea. Luckily, she trusted me.

Fast forward five years and I had hired a few folks to help as I got busier. Things were moving right along. I was reminded of a business class I had taken in college where they said most small businesses fail within five years. I thought "what a bunch of suckers." This is easy. The next five years were challenging, but rewarding, we were growing. We got busier and we brought on a few more teammates. When it came time to celebrate 10 years in business, we were smack dab in the middle of a pandemic. Things were shaky and questionable with a lot of unknowns. It didn’t really feel like a time to celebrate. We kept everyone working who wanted to work and we put our heads down and just kept going. Another five years passed and last year, 2025, we had our biggest and best year yet. We transitioned into our first brick and mortar at 47 E. Main St. downtown New Pal. You can’t miss us; we’re the black building on the edge of town. And even faster forward, now its 2026 and we are off to an even better start.

All the books were right. When you surround yourself with great people great things can happen. I’ve been able to surround myself with 20 of the most like-minded and hardest working folks I could find. I still get to work with my brother on occasion who heads up our services on the Northside. I was even able to bring on my little sister to help with some admin work. I don’t know many folks that can say they are surrounded by friends and family and truly enjoy what they do day in and a day out, but I can. That is a good feeling.

I could not, nor would have wanted to do all of this without the support of my wife, my parents, my friends, and all of you. The great American poet Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. wrote recently “Man of word, I stand on my word. Respect I don’t demand, I deserve. My standards superb. Family first, family second, family third.” And from where I sit, we are all family. You included.

If you’re seeing this and don’t follow us, do so. If you’re someone we’ve worked with or currently service, please share your experience via this link ⬇️. It helps more than you know.

If you see one of my amazing teammates in the coming weeks, give them a high five for all their hard work. A little praise goes a long way, and they deserve it.

If we can help in any way give us a shout. We’re easy to find.
Thank you all for your support and encouragement as we grow together into an even better small business. That’s always been the goal, a little better each day!

We are proud to have graduated another outstanding class last night, May 6th. This group was so much fun from the beginning. They consistently demonstrated exceptional teamwork and collaboration within their project teams.

Brief overview of projects completed:

KidsPlay - developed a plan for a storage system and participated in a day of service to construct, install, and organize shoes, costumes, and props.

Hancock County Arts - collaborated with the Board of Directors to identify marketing needs and develop a plan for increased community visibility. This included creating a brand guide, social media strategies, and writing a grant for new signage to be installed soon.

Eastern Hancock Pavilion - renovated a pavilion and picnic tables for use as outdoor teaching spaces. This included raising funds and working with an EH student and the grant that he received. The area now features screens, fresh paint, and new landscaping.

Wellspring - raised funds, food, and awareness for Wellspring food pantry and programs. Their efforts will provide 3 months of food support for the pantry.

We were also proud to announce this year’s Stacia Alyea Leadership In Excellence Award Winner - Grayson Joslin. This award is special because the recipient is chosen by their fellow classmates!

Thank you to everyone for coming. The room was full of energy and support from their family, friends, employers and Leadership Hancock County Board of Directors!

Congratulations Class of 2026! It was our pleasure to spend a year with such dedicated individuals who will undoubtedly serve our community well in the future.

Amy West is a lifelong resident of Hancock County. She and her husband of 28 years Shane live in Greenfield and have two adult children.

Amy has worked at Hancock County Sheriff's Department for almost 21 years. She began her career as a Jail Officer/Dispatcher, moving to Administration/Payroll and has been assigned to the Investigations Division the last 9 years.

Amy is a 2019-2020 graduate of LHC. Her group project was helping the original Zoey's Place Child's Advocacy Center prepare to open. They provided the paint and painted the entire downstairs area of the center. They secured donations of furniture, rugs and children's toys for the center. The project was cut short due to Covid precautions; however, all donations made it to Zoey's place and gave the center a great start.

Amy has served on the LHC Board of Directors in the past for a 3 year term (2021-2024) and rejoined the board in 2025.
Thank you for serving on the Leadership Hancock County Board, Amy!
