Beginning Sept. 28, the Community Foundation of Hancock County will accept applications for the Martha Beckenholdt Youth Philanthropy Award. Named for longtime philanthropist Martha Beckenholdt, the award honors a Hancock County high school junior for outstanding community service and philanthropy. The recipient will direct a $1,000 Community Foundation donation to a Hancock County nonprofit of their choice.

Applicants must be Hancock County high school juniors with a recommendation from a high school staff member or nonprofit organization leader located in Hancock County. Applications must be complete and submitted online by 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30.

Please encourage young volunteers who may be eligible to apply!

Richard, a successful business owner in the local community, and Judith, a Registered Nurse, both supported those who believed in furthering their careers and making a better life for themselves. In honor of the many contributions to their community and professions, their children Keith White and Stephanie White-Longworth established a scholarship fund to provide educational support.

❤️🦁CFHC recently awarded ten grants from the White Family Foundation Fund, a component fund of CFHC, totaling $25,000. The following organizations received funding:

The White Family Foundation Fund is a donor-advised fund of CFHC. Donor-advised funds allow donors to simplify and consolidate all their charitable giving and provides the family the opportunity to make grant recommendations from their fund to CFHC to address community needs. CFHC assures the charitable qualifications of recommended grantees and handles all the administration details. The White Family supports initiatives that enhance the desire to live, work, and play in the communities where they have provided business services, especially Shirley and the surrounding area.

The White family’s core business is Pride Investment Partners, based in Greenfield. Established after the 2012 sale of GasAmerica Services, Pride now holds a diverse portfolio of investments across the Midwest including hotels, retail centers, strip malls, and both residential and commercial real estate. Their newest venture, Leo’s Market & Eatery, has rapidly expanded to seven locations with two being in Greenfield. The concept blends a fresh, made-to-order, chef-inspired Eatery with a modern convenience market and fuel services.
