🐾💙 KOBALT’S SAFE PAWS CAMPAIGN 💙🐾

Every one of our canine guests at AuSable Valley Animal Shelter deserves a safe, clean, comfortable place to stay while waiting for a forever home…but right now, our kennel floors need help. After years of constant use, the floors in our dog kennels need professional repair and refinishing. The total cost of the project is approximately $20,000—and thanks to an incredibly generous offer, your donation can go twice as far!

In honor of his beloved dog, Kobalt, Michael Nelson has offered to MATCH donations up to $5,000! If we raise $5,000, Michael will contribute another $5,000—putting us halfway to our entire goal.

And there’s one more special tribute: our newly refinished kennel floors will be Kobalt Blue, helping Kobalt’s memory live on while providing a safer environment for the dogs who need us...dogs like Wendy, one of our current shelter guests. While Wendy waits for the family who will make her one of their own, she deserves a kennel that is safe, sanitary, and comfortable beneath her paws.

Newly repaired and sealed floors will be easier to sanitize, help prevent bacteria buildup, eliminate cracked and uneven surfaces, and create a safer environment for Wendy and all of our special guests.

AuSable Valley Animal Shelter is a private nonprofit shelter that receives no state or federal funding. Projects like this are possible only because of donations, fundraising, and the generosity of people like you who believe these animals deserve the very best care we can give them.

💙 OUR GOAL: $20,000
💙 THE FIRST $5,000 IN DONATIONS WILL BE MATCHED!

🐾 PET OF THE DAY--TULIP! 🐾

Hi Friends, my name is Tulip, because just like a flower, I'm learning how to blossom and bloom.

I am a 1–2-year-old, medium mixed-breed lady, weighing just under 25 lbs. I may still be growing, so don't count on this as my final weight. I have been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and I'm up to date on my heartworm testing! I'm ready to go!

My past, well that's where it gets a little fuzzy (pun intended). I was found as a stray, and my back story is a mystery. I should mention that it takes me some time to warm up to new people. I tend to freeze, but then within minutes I'm all wiggles, and ready to love.

What am I looking for in a home? I'm so glad you asked. Well, I seem to do much better with ladies, than with men. Women and gentle children make me feel more comfortable. I will need a home with a fenced in backyard because - until I'm fully settled in - I might get scared and wander off, so it's important for me that I have a backyard with a fence so you dan find me. I'm looking for people that will work with me and teach me all the good habits, and work with me gently.

Oops, also. I should tell you I love other dogs, and enjoy playing with them, cats don’t bother me. A home w/ a furry friend might help me ease into a new home a little bit better.

If you'd like to meet me, I'm available at the shelter Tuesday-Saturday 10am-6pm. If you have questions about me, reach out to [email protected] or by phone at 989-348-4117. Hope to see you soon!
