🧱❤️ Brick Builders Club | Crawford County 4-H ❤️🧱

Today we wrapped up our very first Brick Builders Club with Crawford County 4-H, and what an amazing experience it has been!

Over the course of this club, we had a wonderful group of eight kids who came together to build, create, imagine, and explore through the simple joy of LEGO bricks. From unique creations and imaginative builds to free-building and letting their creativity lead the way, it has been so much fun watching these kids bring their ideas to life! 🏗️✨

While LEGO bricks may look like just toys, the learning that happens through building is incredible. Children develop problem-solving skills, creativity, spatial awareness, patience, and perseverance. They learn to experiment, think outside the box, work through challenges, and take pride in something they created themselves. Just as importantly, they get the opportunity to connect with other kids, share ideas, and build friendships along the way.

One of the best parts of this club has been watching the kids enjoy the freedom to create whatever their imaginations could dream up. There is something so special about giving children the space, materials, and opportunity to learn through play!

As we celebrate our last day, each child will receive a certificate recognizing their participation in Brick Builders Club. I hope they leave feeling proud of everything they've created and excited about all the things they can continue to build! 🏆

I am so thankful and grateful that we were able to bring this club to Crawford County 4-H and provide this opportunity for our youth. Seeing kids come together, learn new skills, and simply enjoy being kids is exactly why programs like this matter.

Thank you to our amazing group of eight builders for making this first club so special! ❤️

🎲 Is there still interest in a 4-H D&D Club in Crawford County? 🎲

Earlier this summer, Crawford County 4-H was approached in person at the library by someone interested in starting a Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) club for youth. We talked about the possibility of creating a 4-H D&D club, and the interested adult shared that they were going to talk with parents and families to see what the interest was and what they would like to see.

We provided a business card and contact information, but we haven't heard anything back yet. That's completely okay — we know plans change and life gets busy! 😊

We are just checking in with our community to see:

🎲 Is there still a need or interest in a D&D club for Crawford County 4-H youth?

We currently have a volunteer who is willing to help host, supervise, and facilitate a D&D club. They are not an experienced D&D player or someone who would be able to teach youth how to play the game, but they are willing to learn alongside the youth and help provide a safe, supervised environment for the club.

So if you have youth who are interested in D&D and would enjoy learning and playing together, we'd love to hear from you!

And if the need has already been filled or plans have changed, that's completely fine too! We are simply trying to determine whether there is still enough interest to move forward with exploring a Crawford County 4-H D&D club.

🌟 Crawford County 4-H is heading to Tractor Supply for Clover Days! 🌟

📅 November 27 – December 23
📍 Tractor Supply Co. – Crawford County

We have the opportunity to put Crawford County 4-H front and center in our community, and we want YOU to help us make it a success! 🍀🐄🎨

We are looking for 4-H volunteers, youth, families, and creative thinkers who would like to help us plan and participate in our Tractor Supply Clover Days presence.

💡 Have an idea? We want to hear it!

Some ideas we could explore include:

🐰 Bring Your Own Animal / Small Petting Zoo
🐔 Showcase 4-H Animals & Projects
🎨 Display Crafts, Artwork & Other 4-H Projects

🎁 Prize Drawings, Giveaways & Fun Challenges
🌟 Make-and-Take Activities for Kids
📸 4-H Photo Opportunities
🍀 Clover-themed activities and crafts
…and whatever creative ideas YOU can come up with!

I already have lots of prizes and giveaways ready to help make this fun for the community. Now we need the people, ideas, creativity, and enthusiasm to bring it all together!

This is a great opportunity for our youth to showcase what they are learning through 4-H, for volunteers to get involved, and for Crawford County to see that 4-H is active, growing, and ready to be part of our community.

💚 We also hope to raise funds to support Crawford County 4-H youth and future programming.

Whether you can help with one activity, one shift, bringing a project or animal, decorating, planning, running a game, baking, or simply brainstorming ideas, we want you involved!

📸 4-H PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB STARTS TODAY! 🍂

If your child is signed up for Crawford County 4-H Photography Club, don't forget that we meet TODAY from 4:00–5:00 p.m. at Hartwick Pines State Park!

📍 Where to Meet:
Hartwick Pines State Park – Welcome Center

When you arrive at Hartwick Pines State Park, drive to the Welcome Center. Go up the stairs or use the ramps to reach the front entrance of the building.

📸 Meet our volunteer, Emy, at the front of the Welcome Center at 4:00 p.m.

Emy will meet the group there and take the youth on a walk through the woods to practice photography and capture some amazing fall pictures! 🍁📷

⏰ Time: 4:00–5:00 p.m.

🎨 4-H ART CLUB STARTS TODAY! 🎨

A quick reminder to all parents/guardians who enrolled their child in one of our Crawford County 4-H Art Clubs at Grayling Elementary School:

📧 PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL BEFORE COMING TO CLUB TODAY!

We had enough sign-ups to offer TWO different Art Clubs, and some youth were moved between the 3:45–4:45 p.m. club and the 5:00–6:00 p.m. club.

👉 Please check your email to see which club your child was placed in and make sure they attend at the correct time. This helps our volunteers make sure they have the correct youth at the correct club time.

⏰ PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME FOR DROP-OFF AND PICKUP!

It is especially important that children are picked up on time at the end of their club so that our volunteers can transition between clubs and the next group can begin on schedule.

🏀 WE WANT TO BRING A 4-H BASKETBALL PROGRAM TO CRAWFORD COUNTY! 🏀

Do you love basketball? Do you enjoy working with kids? Have experience playing, coaching, or teaching the game?

We are looking for at least 4 volunteers to help make a 4-H Basketball program possible!

We would love to offer this program Winter 2026 or Spring 2027, but we need the right volunteers first! ❤️

🏀 WE HAVE TWO OPTIONS FOR HOW THIS COULD WORK!

OPTION 1: 3-DAY BASKETBALL CLINIC

A fun, action-packed weekend experience for youth:

🏀 Friday: Approximately 2 hours after school
🏀 Saturday: Approximately 3–4 hours
🏀 Sunday: Approximately 3–4 hours

Youth would have the opportunity to:
⛹️ Learn the basics of basketball
🏀 Practice drills and skills
🏃 Run, play, and stay active
🤝 Learn teamwork and communication
⭐ Learn good sportsmanship
🎉 Most importantly—HAVE FUN!

OR...

🏀 OPTION 2: 4-H SPIN CLUB

If meeting for an entire weekend isn't the best fit for our volunteers, we can turn this into a 6-week 4-H SPIN Club!

🏀 6 Saturdays
⏰ 3 hours each Saturday

This would give volunteers more time to teach skills, build relationships with the youth, and develop the program over several weeks.

🙋 WHAT WE NEED FROM VOLUNTEERS

We need at least 4 volunteers who have basketball knowledge and are comfortable teaching, encouraging, and working with youth.

You do not have to be a professional coach. If you love basketball and want to share your knowledge with kids, we would love to talk with you!

💚 WHAT SHAY & 4-H CAN HELP WITH

You bring the basketball knowledge—4-H can help with the rest!

✔️ Finding a gym
✔️ Space arrangements and paperwork
✔️ Program planning and logistics
✔️ Basketballs and supplies
✔️ 4-H paperwork and registration
✔️ Helping organize the clinic or SPIN Club
✔️ Supporting you as you get the program up and running

We’ve had a few families reach out asking if 12-year-olds can join our Photography Club, and we’re happy to say YES! 🎉

Our volunteer is opening the club to 12-year-olds who are interested in photography, and we still have spaces available!

GOOD NEWS! 🎉💚

The issue we were experiencing with 4-H Online that was preventing some families from seeing or adding additional clubs has been RESOLVED! 🙌

Thank you so much for your patience while we worked with our technical support team to get this fixed. And a special thank-you to the parent who first brought the issue to my attention! ❤️

You can now log into 4-H Online and register your child for the Crawford County 4-H clubs they are interested in.
