Another fun year of MSBOA District 10 All-Star Jazz Band! We had 3 high school students selected to be part of this group that put together a full set of music in just two rehearsals. They played two gigs this past week at Millennium Park and Rosa Parks Circle to full audiences.

Congrats to Lewis Gardine (alto saxophone), Noah Hamilton (baritone saxophone), and Parker Davies (trombone)!

Congratulations to several of our high school band students who were selected to perform at the MSBOA Spring Honors Festival on Friday at Oakland University.

Our saxophone quartet consisting of Lewis Gardine, Kevin Wood, Noah Hamilton, and Claire Crabbe were selected to perform as one of only 4 ensembles selected across the entire state. They qualified from their perfect score at State Solo/Ensemble Festival along with a nomination from their judge as one of the top performances from their site. The quartet submitted a recording as part of the competition that was evaluated against other nominated ensembles.

Parker Davies and Joseph Lawrence also performed in the Honors Brass Ensemble that is a select group of musicians from all over the state. They were accepted based on their very high scores at the Proficiency III level consisting of all scales, sight-reading, and a solo performance.

We are so proud of these students for performing alongside the best musicians in our state and representing our community at the highest level!

A huge congratulations to our Saxophone Quartet who have been selected as one of MSBOA’s Outstanding Ensembles! This competition is a result of both being nominated by their judge for their exceptional performance at State Solo/Ensemble followed by submitting a recording along with other top nominated groups across the state. A listening panel narrows down the list to a select group of invited ensembles that will perform in the MSBOA Spring Honors Festival on May 8th at Oakland University!

The saxophone quartet includes Lewis Gardine (Soprano Saxophone), Kevin Wood (Alto Saxophone), Noah Hamilton (Tenor Saxophone), and Claire Crabbe (Baritone Saxophone). We are so proud of their dedication and commitment to rehearsing together on many weekends to achieve this accomplishment of being recognized among the very best in our state!

They will join Parker Davies (trombone) and Joseph Lawrence (horn) who we recognized earlier that will also perform in the Spring Honors Festival in the Honors Brass Ensemble!
