Project GREEN Project GREEN is a community initiative offering a roadmap for economic empowerment. GREEN is an acronym for Grassroots Economic Empowerment Network.

Project GREEN is a community initiative offering a roadmap for economic empowerment to residents and families of greater Grand Rapids. Project GREEN explores the linkages between historical factors and current conditions in order to improve the future economic development of individuals and families in Greater Grand Rapids. Particularly, GREEN will measure the impact of payday loans, the strength of urban businesses, and the effects of family structure on economic security. We're going to run it back once more!

This is your sign to get your finances in line before the year is up! There are only 76 days left in the year. That's 76 opportunities to get on track with your money goals, and we're only asking for 4 evenings out of the 76 you have left to get you started!

We wouldn't be able to turn everyday people into money heroes without the incredible leaders behind the scenes. Get to know a few of the passionate faces driving our mission forward:

🤝 Dallas
- Favorite part of the work: Partnering with local community organizations to provide financial capabilities programming. It's the vision behind the "Network" in our name!
- Grand Rapids Go-To: Grabbing coffee and tea at Sip C&C, or lunch at Hall Street Bakery.

⚾ Alayna
- Best piece of advice: If you take the time to track down where every dollar that comes through your hands goes, you can budget, save, etc. We waste because we don't realize!
- Off the clock: You can usually find her at the baseball park, cheering on her kiddos as they "play ball!" 🧢

💡 Janessa
- Her "Why": Being the guide for others that she wishes she had when learning new, difficult things, and spreading the wealth of knowledge.
- Proudest moment: Presenting at this year's EEC! She loves showing the team her passion and keeping tough topics fun and light-hearted.

✍️ Hailee
- Favorite part of the work: Using her own personal experiences to help others build a better, stronger future.
- Hidden talent: She is a published writer with a poem featured in the National Poetry Digest!

Here is why:
1️⃣ It lowers your total available credit, which spikes your credit utilization ratio (a huge factor in your score).
2️⃣ It can eventually shorten the average age of your credit history.

Money Hero Tip: Instead of closing your oldest cards, keep them open and put a small, recurring subscription (like Netflix) on them to keep them active. Pay them auto-pay every month, and now you are building credit!💳✨
