This week, we had an incredible time with our PT team here last week! 💪

We saw so many patients this week, and it was truly inspiring to witness the impact of this work and the way everyone came together with such purpose and compassion.

One of our brigadistas, who is currently taking massage classes, also had the opportunity to learn PT treatment techniques from our team so she can help a family member with needed therapy.

We are grateful to be a bridge for God to do His work for so many people who need care. It is a joyous way to live and serve!

In March, two families in our villages faced heartbreaking loss.

In our community, when someone passes, families often gather for an all-night vigil before burial the next morning. Circle of Empowerment helped families secure coffins and walk through those painful moments with them.

One of the lives lost was a young adult who had been living with chronic illness. The other was a child, only 1½ years old, who died from dehydration after being given too many laxatives to treat parasites.

This is difficult to share, but it reflects the reality of why Circle of Empowerment’s work is so urgently needed.

We are working to change dangerous cultural practices around over-treatment, strengthen health education, and help families access safer care. We stand with grieving families, and we continue the hard work of protecting lives through education, compassion, and community support.

Every child, every family, and every village deserves the chance to thrive.

What a dream come true for Circle of Empowerment!

This new grant will allow us to use our dental services to meet a tremendous need in our community. Thanks to this support, we will now have a dentist available two days each month. In the past, we were only able to provide dental care for three days every 6 to 12 months, made possible through the generosity of the U.S. dental group Perrys from Washington State.🦷🦷

This is such a blessing for the people we serve, and we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to expand access to much-needed care. Thank you to everyone who helps make moments like this possible!

🩺Our brigadistas are expanding their assessment skills in the villages by adding glucose readings, helping identify undiagnosed diabetes in communities where the need is high.

Many families rely on sugar to meet daily calorie needs. One family of four we assisted was using 20 pounds of sugar each month. It’s a powerful reminder of how closely health and food access are connected.

Big wins for our team! 🎉

Jennifer (one of our incredible brigadistas) recently graduated as a Pharmacy Tech, and while job openings in that role are limited right now, she’s already putting her skills and drive to work in a powerful way.

She’s been helping set up our new computerized system alongside our new RN, who mapped out what we needed based on inventory challenges and past issues. And a huge shoutout to Oneyda, who supported the program design and helped oversee the learning process every step of the way.

This is a win for everyone! Jennifer is gaining hands-on experience she can add to her resume for stronger job opportunities, and everyone benefits from a smoother, smarter system.

This is what teamwork looks like, collaboration, creativity, and growth all in one. We’ve got a powerful team, and it shows! ❤️👏

☀️ Last week, Meg took our volunteer healthcare workers and teachers to a well-deserved day at the water park! 🌊

It was a small way to celebrate the big difference they make for our community every day. Thank you for all you do! 💙

Each month, we’re visiting one of our 9 communities alongside our incredible brigadistas (community health workers) to:
✅ Introduce our new nurse
✅ Assess community needs
✅ Provide screenings for diabetes and hypertension
✅ Check children for nutrition concerns
✅ Do children’s dental checks
✅ Share a health education talk created and presented by the brigadistas

So grateful for the teamwork and the warm welcome. More visits coming soon, one community at a time. 🩺

We held our PTA meeting on Tuesday and handed out most of the backpacks for our sponsored children. With 90% of families present, we discussed closer collaboration with our Thursday/Friday tutoring groups and asked parents to become more involved in their children’s education. We’re evaluating 6th graders’ multiplication and reading fluency before they start high school and firming up grade-level goals in math and reading, using the official curriculum. All parents were asked to sign a collaboration contract, and the group was very supportive.

We’ve seen how family involvement can accelerate learning: three years ago, we had four new 4th graders who couldn’t read, and with 1-to-1 support from family tutors, all four reached close to grade level within six months. Our sponsored families—though among the poorest—have produced over 50% of the valedictorians in our two high schools because they want more opportunities for their children.
