🌿 What if PE could build more than physical skills?

At TimberNook, children are given the freedom, time, and space to tackle real challenges through adventurous, child-led outdoor play.

A stick becomes a tool.
A pile of loose parts becomes a fort.
A disagreement becomes an opportunity to practice communication.
A problem becomes something to solve together.

Through play, children naturally develop:

🤝 Conflict Resolution — learning to negotiate, communicate, compromise, and work through disagreements with peers.

🌱 Social Growth — building friendships across ages, practicing leadership, cooperation, empathy, and teamwork.

💪 Strength & Capability — taking healthy risks, using their bodies, building confidence, and discovering, “I can do hard things!”

🧠 Creative Problem Solving — imagining, designing, testing ideas, adapting plans, and finding solutions when things don't go as expected.

At TimberNook, children aren't simply told how to solve problems—they are given meaningful opportunities to experience challenges and discover what they are capable of.

Conservation starts at home.

This is so true: The connection kids build with nature early in life can stay with them for years.

Who helped you connect with nature as a child? A parent? A teacher? A Scout or Guide leader?

What helped form the connection? How will you pass it along?

Our parents took us camping and hiking and canoeing and skiing and oh goodness how grateful I am to them!

My husband and I are trying our best to pass along those same habits and traditions to our boys, with a few new ones added in. And we hope our boys continue the thread!

🌿 Strong hands. Growing brains. Outdoor play does it all!

At TimberNook, kids build grip strength, hand-eye coordination, and dexterity naturally through digging, climbing, carrying, building, pulling, twisting, and creating with loose parts. 💪🌳

The best part? They’re not doing “exercises”—they’re playing, exploring, and having fun.
🌲 Real play. Real movement. Real-life skills.
