🌿 A LITTLE REMINDER, MAMAS! 🌿

We’re inviting our littlest adventurers to join us for a special 6-week Little Wild Ones series at TimberNook of Greater Ascension Parish! 🍃

Designed with our preschool-age kiddos in mind, these multi-age nature play days give little ones the freedom to explore, create, move, and grow in the great outdoors. And the fun doesn’t stop at preschool — campers are welcome through age 10! 🌳

🪵 A little something for every age:

🌱 Mother’s Day Out: For children who are independently potty trained and ready to explore, play, and build friendships while mom enjoys a little time to herself!

🌱 Walking to age 3: Little adventurers attend alongside a caregiver, giving them the chance to explore at their own pace with a familiar grown-up by their side.

🌱 Preschoolers through age 10: A wonderful opportunity for children of different ages to learn from one another, collaborate, create, and experience the magic of child-led nature play!

🎨🌿 Art in the Woods at TimberNook! 🌿🎨

When we say art in the woods, we mean EVERYTHING is a canvas! 😂🎨 Our campers got creative and painted just about everything they could find!

⚖️ Court is back in session! Our campers held another court session, practicing communication, reasoning, negotiation, and working through social challenges together.

🏕️ And, of course, MORE FORTS! Because no day in the woods is complete without building, creating, and bringing big ideas to life!

At TimberNook, children aren't just playing—they're building confidence, strengthening relationships, solving problems, expressing themselves, and learning to navigate the world together. 💚

Friday at TimberNook, our Castaways found themselves in the middle of quite the courtroom drama! 🌳⚖️

The children built their own structures and then brought a very serious case before the court: a play dough character had been mashed! After examining the situation, the children held a court hearing to work through the incident. They even built a jail!

While the story was imaginative, the skills being practiced were very real.

🌿 The Powerful Benefits of Play

Through child-led, imaginative play, children have opportunities to develop:

Conflict resolution: Working through disagreements, hearing different perspectives, and finding solutions.
Critical thinking: Examining what happened, considering evidence, and deciding what should happen next.
Social skills: Practicing communication, cooperation, negotiation, and taking turns.
Emotional regulation: Navigating frustration, excitement, and differing opinions in a playful environment.
Creativity and imagination: Turning an ordinary moment into an elaborate courtroom adventure.
Empathy and perspective-taking: Considering how others feel and how our actions affect those around us.
Leadership and confidence: Taking on roles, sharing ideas, and helping guide a group.
