This is from a parent that has two children with exceptionalities who trains law enforcement how to handle our population. I know this is short notice, on tomorrow Police K9 teams from all over the state will be certifying in the Criminal Apprehension phase of K9 Field Trials tomorrow morning.
First team is on the field is at 8:00 am. Location: LSU soccer field at the corner of Gourier Ave. and River Rd., same road Alex Box stadium is on.
I also extend an invitation to any and all special needs folks and families. I use it as a tool to educate the special needs world, it also educates the law enforcement officers.
Due to a low draw this year there are only 22 K9 teams registered in patrol, there are others but they are bomb and NARC teams.
Please, if you are able come out! It’s very exciting to watch a police dog flying down the field and take down a “bad guy”. Extend the invite to any and all special needs folks. It is open to the public.
We should be done before 12:00.
Note: there is a gunfire phase that involves a few blanks being fired. It occurs at the end of certification and is announced way be for it starts. I bring hearing protection for any special needs folks that attend and need them.
