Rally for Ryan

🚨UPDATE🚨 August 13, 2026

Ryan went to see his hepatologist yesterday morning. We have some both good and rather unfortunate news. Unfortunately, in order for Ryan to even BE offered for a liver donor, the doctor needs to see Ryan’s MELD score reach about 23 - 25. The reason for that is because Ryan’s blood type is O+ which is quite rare. And patients that have type-O blood are prone to develop “auto-immunities”.

The good news: He had been dealing with some strange blisters to his hands/fingers after intense itching flare-ups. He brought that up to his specialist and he assumes that it is a rare skin condition associated with Ryans Crohn’s/colitis/IBS and not related to liver cirrhosis. So, he will be contacting a skin specialist through Ochsner to contact me for a video appointment. The blisters are not infectious nor toxic as matter of fact.

He is still active on the waiting list though, but as of yesterday we now know that he cannot even get an offer just yet. As funny as it sounds, his liver health condition needs to worsen in order to go up the MELD score chart.

🚨UPDATE🚨

We wanted to update everyone on Ryan and how he is doing.
Recently he has had more episodes and has had to miss some work. Luckily we got him in to see his Doctor. His MELD number has increased ( this is the number they use to judge where on the transplant list you fall). He has been advised to have a bag packed and be ready. They told us we could be looking at 2-6 months hopefully for him to get called.
We hope a Liver comes through sooner rather than later.

After checking the condition (wet) of the place where we cook, and discussing with the VFW, We request that you don't bring your cook trailers tomorrow to cook at the Benefit . It's just too wet to get trailers in and out of there.
