Environmental awareness starts at home. The Gonzales Lions Club believes that inspiring our youth to respect and care for nature today ensures a cleaner, brighter Ascension Parish tomorrow.

🟢 THIS WEEK’S GEAUX GREEN CHALLENGE: Get the kids, grandkids, or nieces/nephews outside for an "Eco-Walk" at a local parish park or right in your neighborhood. Teach them about one way to protect nature (like keeping trash in its place).

🌱 Rooted in Ascension: Let's plant native! 🌸

Want a beautiful yard that also helps the local environment? The secret is choosing plants native to Louisiana! Native plants require less water, fewer fertilizers, and provide critical habitats for local pollinators like bees and butterflies. Great options for our area include the Louisiana Iris, Purple Coneflower, and Southern Magnolia.

🟢 THIS WEEK’S GEAUX GREEN CHALLENGE: Show some love to our local flora. Either plant something native in your yard/patio, or take 2 minutes to pull invasive weeds around your existing flower beds to let your plants breathe.

Today, several members of the Gonzales Lions Club were proud to volunteer at the Ascension 4 Youth Fest Back-to-School event at the REV Center at Lamar Dixon. It was a wonderful opportunity to support local students and families alongside other community partners. We’re grateful for every chance to serve and strengthen our community. Together, we are rooted in service.
