Thank you to all 88 of the amazing volunteers who made tonight happen - especially the group from Peoples Mortgage who hosted dinner for us AGAIN!!!! They’ve been hosting every other month for more than eight years!

Three gentleman reminded me tonight why Tuesdays are so important. Each mentioned they were having a really hard week and instead of focusing on the difficulty, they each chose to come out and volunteer. And all three of them thanked me for the opportunity to get outside their personal struggles to help others. What we do is important in so many different ways. Sometimes it’s not about those we serve but about those WHO serve.

Thank you to the Islamic Community Center for once again, providing an amazing meal for everyone. They even brought out watermelon, which is a special treat!

I can’t believe it’s already the time of year to start asking for sleeping bags!!!

We have a little over two months to collect 300 new sleeping bags for our Christmas celebration… 🎄🎄🎄🎄

Do you see this beautiful young lady? Her name is Jess. And after years of being on the streets, Jess got clean and sober. Jess got a job. Jess got a place. Jess reunited and made amends to her family. And just this week, Jess passed her last class to get her HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA!!! Recovery happens … and it’s beautiful!!!!!

I got a letter from prison that made me stop and think. It read, “Thank you for always being so happy to see me ….”

Not thank you for the food or thank you for the clothes or the shoes or the hygiene. Thank you for being happy to see me.

We are sometimes so consumed by the “things” we provide on Tuesday nights that we forget that it’s so much more than that. It’s the smile, the kindness, the hugs, the love. We forget that Tuesday night might be the only time any of our guests get that emotion from anyone.

So thank YOU for always being there for our “kids” and for always being so happy to see them ….. ❤️

Tonight was a very special evening …. Tonight we celebrated a dear young man, Sean Bickings, who passed away four years ago. Sean’s mother has been a supporter of our outreach for years and hosted the amazing dinner tonight! Thank you Turee for your love and support throughout the years! 🥰
