What a month for NGPDF members. Three champions (Alyssa Cleckley, Kaylee Gatlin and Camden Guyton) and three starting the next phase of their journey (Ashley Shaw at UGA, Staci Pla at U of Cincinnati and Hayden Price at Shorter U).
D,C,P regional qualifier (Alyssa), First Tee recognition (Aiko Benford), TOUR Championship first shot (Ariel Collins), VA Regional Champ (Christian Moten), Sifford Academy Curry Cup Champ (Ashley) the Founder’s Birthday (me) and more!

The Inaugural Charles Sifford Golf Academy has been a tremendous success through the first three days. These 8 talented young players of color are getting a full overview of not only skill development, but course management and the mental approach to the game. They are like 8 “sponges” soaking up the info from EMU Head Coach Andy Walker and his team. Yesterday they were treated to added insights from Shasta Averyhardt. The roundtable discussions with players and with parents has provide plenty of insight that will allow us to continue to develop this blueprint. Many thanks to my colleague in “the struggle” Jenny Bethune and Miles College Coach Leonard Smoot for their valuable contributions to this tremendous event. Two more days so I know it will just get better. I know that Mr. Sifford is looking down and smiling this morning. “Hey Jim, Calvin, Pete, Ted, call Dickey, Lou, Doc, Leonard and the boys and look down here at what they are doing in Ypsilanti!” 🙏🏾⛳️💯

This week I attended my first Underrated Tour event at Troon Golf Club in Scottsdale. I was very impressed with the entire event organization. It was also an opportunity to meet the 4 NGPDF members that competed and their parents. I also got to see Xeve Perez who I meet 3 years ago. After watching them perform and having some great conversations with the parents, I am supercharged to continue to grow the National Golf Player Development Foundation so that we can support more black and brown competitive golfers to play this game and get to college through this game. Thanks to the Winn, Lambert, Shaw and Lott families for your time and thoughts. Good luck to Obasi, Tyler, Ashley and Vivian along with the other members of NGPDF as you continue your journey.
