Our purpose is to promote health and public recreational opportunities and alternate transportation through safe bicycling and pedestrian activities.

Some exciting progress is being made on a section of trail that will finalize the connection between the Gettysburg battlefield visitor center and Spangler Farm.

A few weeks ago, members of HABPI's board joined Adrienne Fors of the September 11th National Memorial Trail Aliance board to receive a proclamation from the Adams County Commissioners. The proclamation recognizes the upcoming Gettysburg Loop Tour and the Alliance’s work to preserve the legacy of September 11, 2001.

The planned ride includes a two-day stop in historic Gettysburg from Oct 21-23 with opportunities for participants to explore Gettysburg National Military Park, the WWII American Experience Museum, and other local attractions.

The winner of this year’s Kids’ Bike Parade raffle drawing for a new bicycle is 5-year-old Osman Ahmadzai. The parade was held during the 2026 Heritage Festival. The bike was provided by Gettysburg Bicycle and Healthy Adams Bicycle/Pedestrian, Inc. (HABPI). Shown receiving his bike (L to R) are Jes Stith (owner of Gettysburg Bicycle), Osman, and Max Bramel (HABPI board of directors). Congratulation Osman. Wishing you many happy miles!

We had a great time at the 11th Annual Ride for Trails that was held on Saturday, Sep 26. Nearly 100 riders registered for the event. While the morning was a bit cool and breezy, spirits were high. Thank you to the riders and volunteers who made this a successful event and helped raise over $10,000 for our work to develop biking and walking trails in Adams County.

In case you missed it, here's a photo from the Gettysburg Times on the Bike Parade that was held last Sunday at the Gettysburg Heritage Festival. Riders received entries to a raffle for a $350 certificate good at Gettysburg Bicycle.(More on the result of that raffle in a future post.)
It's always good to see kids having fun on bikes. And thanks Mayor Alison Lintal for leading the parade.
