The Land Conservancy of Adams County is an accredited member-supported nonprofit land trust with the mission of preserving the rural lands and character of Adams County. We use conservation easements, outreach, advocacy, and collaboration to maintain the benefits of open space, preserve our community's way of life, and protect our unique heritage and ecosystem.

We are excited to announce that Karen Miller is the winner of our summer photo contest!

Her charming photograph, "Sach's Bridge" taken in Gettysburg, received the most votes on Facebook and Instagram.

We are pleased to announce that another 100.12 acres in Freedom Township are protected forever! LCAC has now preserved over 14,300 acres of farmland and open space in this beautiful county. This project was completed with the help of the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Adams County Green Space Program, and LCAC donors. Thank you to our funders and to the landowners who have committed to preservation.

Send us your summer photo contest submission by Friday, August 28 (note the EXTENDED DEADLINE).

Send us a picture of your favorite bridge in Adams County.

Email your photo to [email protected] (be sure to include your name, a description of the photo, where it was taken, and your Instagram handle [if you have one]).

The picture must be of a location in Adams County, PA.
-The photo must be in its original state and not adjusted by filters.
-Only one submission per person per round.
-By submitting photos, entrants agree that photos submitted can be used by the Land Conservancy for promotional and fundraising purposes in online and print publications. This permission includes, but is not limited to, publication by the Land Conservancy in printed materials (including notecards and calendars), TV broadcasts, websites, and email communications. You will not be compensated for such use. However, where reasonable, we may give you credit for the photo.
-Save photos as JPEG (.jpg) file.
-If your image contains identifiable subjects, including minors, you must submit a signed photo release from each identifiable subject, or the identifiable subject's parent or legal guardian if a minor (if you need a generic release form, email us and we can provide one).

In anticipation of the October 17 Road Rally, "Bridges of Adams County," we're asking you to share a photo of your favorite bridge in Adams County. Email submissions to: [email protected]

Entries will be accepted through Wednesday, August 26 and the top 10 photos will be posted Thursday, August 27.

Summer Appeal Fundraiser Update

Thank you so much to those who have donated so far to our summer fundraising appeal. We are 80% of the way to our $15,000 goal by August 31st.

This year's goal is to raise enough to cover the administrative costs, including increasingly expensive surveys and appraisals, of preserving 100 acres of land. By funding these essential behind-the-scenes expenses, every additional dollar we receive can go even further toward conservation.

We're excited to announce that an anonymous donor has generously offered to match every dollar donated between July 20 and August 31, up to $5,000.
