Adams County Head Start will provide an environment where eligible children and their families are safe, enriched, and empowered.

When the clock strikes midnight tonight, the Adams County Community Foundation Giving Spree goes live! You have 24 hours to contribute to Adams County Head Start and many other community organizations to support the important work happening in Adams County.

Donations to Adams County Head Start help us to support early literacy, access to dental screenings and exams, and provide additional experiences for program children and families. We are lucky #13 on the Giving Spree donation form!

Last year, our children were able to participate in a martial arts progam and enjoyed an exciting educational trip to Catoctin Zoo! Without community support, activities like this would not be possible. 🥋🦛🦘🦚🦜

October is Head Start Awareness Month, a time to recognize what Head Start means right here in Adams County.

Thank you to Adams County Commissioners Randy Phiel, Jim Martin, and Mark Clowney for recognizing October as Head Start Awareness Month and Adams County Head Start with a proclamation at their meeting on October 14th. We greatly appreciate the support of our community.

At Adams County Head Start, we serve over 130 children and families each year, helping children build a strong foundation for school and life while partnering with parents and caregivers every step of the way.

For over 44 years, Head Start has been part of our community, and we’re proud to continue that legacy.

Deadline Alert: Parent Sign-On Letter Closes Tonight!

More than 17,000 Head Start parents and caregivers have already added their names to NHSA’s national Parent Sign-On Letter, helping show what families want protected as changes to the Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS) are considered.

There is still time: The deadline has been extended through tonight, Friday, October 2, 2026, to include even more voices.

Protect Head Start standards that benefit children and families. The federal government has proposed changes to the standards that guide Head Start programs. These changes would affect many of the services that matter most to children and families, including health and other essential services, staff-to-child ratios, support for children with disabilities, how teachers build children’s English proficiency, eligibility for Head Start, and opportunities for parents to lead and have a voice in their local programs.

Adams County Head Start is excited to be a part of the Adams County Community Foundation Giving Spree on November 5th! Your today or forever gifts provide our program stability during difficult budget times and enhancements to our program activities.

Last year, due to the generous donations through the ACCF and the Giving Spree, we were able to provide a martial arts program, through NextSTEP Martial Arts, to several classrooms, where the children gained self-esteem, confidence, discipline and respect.

All of our classrooms were able to enjoy a field trip to Catoctin Zoo with children and families. Our children were excited to see animals they've only ever seen before in the pages of a book!

These opportunities are ones that could not be done without community support due to current funding. Please consider supporting Adams County Head Start in this year's Giving Spree with a forever gift to our endowment, or with a today gift that we can use immediately.
