Healthy Adams County, Inc. Healthy Adams County seeks to create a higher quality of life throughout our community by improving p

Healthy Adams County has its roots in an organization created in the late 1950's called the Adams County Council of Community Services. In October 1993 Dr. Leah Maitland, John Eline and Bill Taft from Gettysburg Hospital and Steve Niebler from the Adams County Office for Aging, met to discuss the need to conduct a community health needs assessment. After several years the Adams County Partnership

for Community Health was created and a first needs assessment was conducted in 1996. In 2002 the organization changed its name to Healthy Adams County, Inc. Healthy Adams County is financially supported by WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital and is governed by a community board of directors. The organization continues to conduct community health assessments every three years and develops key priority areas based on the assessment data. Healthy Adams County maintains approximately 20 task forces/committees with over 400 volunteers.
