Each year our Society pays to have a bridge painted as part of our mission to preserve and raise awareness of our covered bridges. This year Dr. Knisley, in Bedford County, PA, was painted. Thanks to our painter, Bill Stockum, who did a superb job on this challenging bridge to paint! Great job!

More Good News! The Theodore Burr Society has been awarded a grant from the Pomeroy Foundation for a National Register of Historic Places roadside marker for Bogert's Covered Bridge in Lehigh County. It is currently under construction which we hope will be completed by the time the sign arrives. The sign will resemble the one shown for Red Bridge with the appropriate information for Bogert's.
We are thankful to the Pomeroy Foundation for their support of our Covered Bridge Historic Markers Program. To date, the Burr Society has been awarded 9 National Registry Signs and 2 Historic Transportation signs for 9 of our covered bridges.

Our painter, Bill Stockum, is busy this week painting Dr. Knisley in Bedford County PA. Gloria and Jim Smedley stopped by to check on his progress and apply fire retardant to the floor. Lots of scraping before painting could begin but the inside is done except for the middle section of the roof braces and one side almost finished. A few more days to finish. They met the owner, Jim Claycomb who is thrilled with the work and couldn’t thank us enough! Bill will send photos when done!

Our next meeting will be Sunday, June 7th starting at 2:00 PM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Locust St. in Columbia, PA. The program will be "Let's Talk About Adams County's Covered Bridges" by member Donna King McClane. Come out and hear this excellent presentation and see her informative display!
