This morning’s meeting was packed with presentations. Lion Omar Maldonado (our incoming club President) received the “International President’s Certificate of Appreciation” for “distinguished achievements in fulfilling the mission of Lions International.” The award was presented by Past District Governor Charles Villeneuve.

Club President Lion Mark Shellard and Lion Ron Colunga presented Mercedes Bristol with our sustaining donation to Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, an organization she founded and for which she serves as Executive Director. For more information regarding Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, visit txgrg.com.

And last, but certainly NOT least, Lion Mark accepted on behalf of our club the Robert F. Koennecke Award from Lion Charles. This recognition is awarded annually by the Seguin Noon Lions Club to a club in District 2-S5 in recognition of “Outstanding Service” for the 2025-2026 year. Robert Koennecke was a distinguished Seguin native and a lifelong Lion.

Lion Mike Burris was busy today helping distribute 28 food boxes (almost 900 pounds!) to eligible residents of Eden Court.

Eden Court in Seguin is a Senior Living complex managed by National Church Residences, a nationwide non-profit organization. Their website states, “Since our founding in 1961, we have been dedicated to creating communities where older adults can thrive—through senior affordable housing, senior living, and healthcare.”

The Seguin Sunrise Lions Club has been distributing food boxes to Eden Court for the past three years!
