๐Ÿ’œ Empowering Women Veterans Through Connection ๐Ÿ’œ

This weekend, Operation Second Chance was honored to support the Women Veterans Engage (WVE) 2026 Conference at the National Veterans Memorial & Museum in Columbus, Ohio.

Sixty-seven women veterans, service members, caregivers, survivors, and supporters came together for a day of connection, learning, encouragement, and community. Through engaging presentations, networking opportunities, resource sharing, and meaningful conversations, attendees were reminded that they are not alone in their journeys.

Women veterans often face unique challenges during and after military service. Events like Women Veterans Engage create opportunities to build supportive relationships, share experiences, discover resources, and strengthen the sense of belonging that is so important to overall well-being.

Operation Second Chance was proud to serve as a major sponsor of this event, helping provide lunches, refreshments, event materials, raffle prizes, and other resources that enhanced the experience for attendees. More importantly, we were honored to help create a space where women veterans could connect, feel supported, and continue building a strong community of peers.

A heartfelt thank you to the Ohio National Guard Enlisted Association (ONGEA), Women Veterans Advisory Committee (WVAC), Women Veterans Alliance (WVA), National Veterans Memorial & Museum, presenters, volunteers, and community partners whose collaboration made this event possible.

Most importantly, thank you to every woman veteran who attended. Your service, resilience, leadership, and willingness to support one another are what make events like this so impactful.

At Operation Second Chance, we remain committed to serving veterans and military families by fostering opportunities for connection, healing, growth, and community.

To our Gold Star families, your loved ones gave everything in service to this nation, and your strength, resilience, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. The pain you carry is matched only by the pride and gratitude this country owes you.

At Operation Second Chance, we stand beside you in remembrance, respect, and unwavering appreciation. Your heroesโ€™ legacies live on through the lives they touched and the freedom they helped protect.

Today is not just another long weekend.

Memorial Day is a time to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is the reason we enjoy the freedoms we often take for granted.

As we spend time with family and friends this weekend, may we pause to reflect on the true meaning of this day and honor those who never made it home.

Itโ€™s not about the barbecues.
Itโ€™s about the heroes.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Todayโ€™s Equine Therapy/Horse Connection session at Heroes Ridge focused on something many Veterans struggle with โ€” boundaries.

Through working with the horses, participants learned how to set healthy boundaries, recognize when adjustments are needed, and understand that itโ€™s okay to change those boundaries as healing and growth take place. Horses have a unique way of reflecting our emotions, energy, and communication, making these lessons both powerful and meaningful.

It was a fantastic day of connection, growth, and healing, and a reminder that healthy boundaries are an important part of wellness and recovery for our Veterans. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿด

Today at Heroes Ridge, we had the honor of welcoming well over 90 veterans and family members for our Veteran Appreciation Day, and what a beautiful day it was! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Families enjoyed roping demonstrations, resource tables, great food, pony rides, a petting zoo, and face painting for the children. Most importantly, it was a day filled with connection, laughter, and appreciation for the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our country.

This event was simply our way of saying THANK YOU to our veterans and their families. We are so grateful for each and every one of you.

A very special thank you to all of the incredible volunteers who gave their time and energy to help make today possible. From setup to cleanup and everything in between, your kindness and support helped create a truly meaningful day for our Heroes.

Days like today remind us what community is all about. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
