The latest news:
The quilt was won by Beth Werrell who bought her ticket when we visited Faithful Circle. Carol Carrier sold the winning ticket.
The board approved donations of $350 to Manna Food and $350 to Comfort Cases for a total of $700.
The top ticket sellers were:
#1 – Maryjean Spencer 197 tickets
#2 – Ellen Robinson 182 tickets
#3 – Suma Glassman 131 tickets
Congratulations to all and thanks to members who participated in the fundraising as the guild uses the money from the raffle to help fund our programs and service projects. Special thanks to Karen Moss for doing ticket distribution & collection and Maryjean Spencer for her outstanding job getting our quilt out to so many different guilds.
Thank you to each of you that bought tickets! Be sure to use the Capital Quilts coupon on the back before 12/31/26. We appreciate their support so very much!

'Jubilation', our 2026 raffle quilt, was created by J.D. from a Deb Tucker pattern. Long arming done by Karen M., hand sewing by Anne W.

Size: 100” x 100” inches (California King size).

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Comfort Cases and Manna Food Center.

Drawing will be held on June 1, 2026 at our guild meeting.

Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5 and are coupons worth 15% off at Capital Quilts.

Winner need not be present to win.

Another great year for the guild. Great programs, lots of items donated from Service Projects, members getting together to sew. Nice!

Next meeting is Monday and it is our potluck. And our annual officer elections. Be sure to come, we are meeting earlier because of food so 6:30 for this meeting! We won't get together until August after this.

Our June 1st meeting will be our annual potluck and in person (no zoom). Note that we begin earlier at 6:30. We will dine together first and then hold a short business meeting to elect our 2026-2027 officers and we will draw the winning ticket for our raffle quilt.

Members be on the look out for the sign-up genius, so we can get an idea of how many will be coming (and you can see what others are bringing). But if you forget to sign up, you can still come. Just bring your dish to share. FSQ will provide chicken, plates, silverware, and bottled water, and the guild members can bring sides & desserts.

Reminders: #1 Bring your raffle ticket stubs and money (we draw the winning ticket at this meeting).
#2 If you have not renewed your dues for 2026-2027, please bring your cash or checkbook or credit card ($35, or $20 for Asbury residents).

Our FSQ membership drive starts at the May meeting, for the upcoming year, June 1, 2026 through May 31, 2027. Renewing membersmay renew in person at a meeting, no need to complete a form. We will have a complete roster for you to double check your information. Corrections can be made on the roster. Membership can take cash, credit card or check (payable to FSQ). Dues will remain the same at $35 a year; $20 per year for non-residents of the state of Maryland and Asbury Methodist Village residents.

Hard to believe that it is the end of April already. The May issue of The Quiltline is now loaded to the guild website. Lots of guild things happening and lots of things from other guilds. We quilters are so social!

Our next guild meeting is on May 4th and will hybrid: In-Person (at the Rosborough Center at Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg) and by Zoom. Social time 7-7:30.

Business portion of the meeting begins promptly at 7:30 and is followed by a presentation by our featured speaker. Following the presentation, members are invited to "show and tell" about recent projects.

Cynthia Gill is a Superior Threads Threadologist and Handi Quilter National Educator. She travels the country teaching quilters about long arms and thread.

Cynthia will be with us in person to share all about threads and how to make an informed choice about what is the best thread for your next project.

We will be meeting at the Rosborough Center at Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg. We have a social time from 7PM to 7:30, followed by a brief business meeting. Immediately after that, we will turn over the meeting to the program committee. Hope you can join us!
Our meeting will be in the community room of the Rosborough Center, which is where we held our quilt show and our March-June meetings. From the entrance at Odenhal Ave, after the guard station, continue through at the stop sign and the Rosborough center will be on your right. OR the staff at the guard station can direct you if you need further help. Please only park in spots that are not marked for residents.
A zoom link will be sent to members 2 or 3 days before the 4th.

This past weekend, nearly 40 Friendship Star members got together for a 2 day Sew-In at Asbury in the community room. Most of us worked on our own projects or helped out one another on theirs. We also worked on service projects quilts and pillowcases, made red-white-blue blocks for USA's 250th birthday, made reversible fabric gift bags, and worked on fabric and vinyl zippered folios. We had a fabulous time, and hope to be able to do this again. It was a wonderful way to get connected more with each other.

Rae Cumbie and Carrie Emerson will have a conversation and Trunk Show about the Quilted Jackets in the book "Fit for Art Patterns". They have written a "complete resource for DIY quilted jackets."
