Habitat for Humanity Hall County

🏡 What does home mean to you—in just one word?

While volunteering with us for Patch Your Porch, we asked some of the amazing students from Brenau University to answer that question. 💛

Their answers may be different, but they all point back to something we believe deeply at Habitat for Humanity of Hall County: home means everything.

Home can mean comfort. Safety. Family. Belonging. Stability. A place to grow.

A huge thank you to these Brenau students for giving their time, energy, and helping us bring a little fall cheer to porches across Hall County. 🎃🍂 Your volunteer hours helped make this fundraiser possible—and helped support our mission of making affordable homeownership possible for more people in our community.

So now we want to hear from you: What does HOME mean to you in one word? 👇🏡

Together, we’re better. 💙

Food security and housing stability are more connected than we may realize. When a large portion of a household’s income goes toward housing, there is less left for groceries, healthcare, transportation, savings, and other everyday needs.

That’s why we believe building a stronger Hall County takes all of us.

We are grateful for the opportunity to support the incredible work of Sunshine Seniors and the Georgia Mountain Food Bank. While each of our organizations serves our community in a different way, we’re working toward the same goal: helping our neighbors have the stability, resources, and support they need to thrive.
At Habitat for Humanity of Hall County, our mission may start with home — but the impact of an affordable, stable home reaches so much further. 🏡
When local organizations support one another, our entire community becomes stronger.

Different missions. Shared purpose. One Hall County. 💙

Home should be a place where you feel safe. 🏡💙

Mr. Phillips heard about our Aging in Place Program through his church.
His previous ramp at his home had become a serious safety concern. It was made of plywood, which had become slippery and unsafe over time, increasing his risk of a fall or injury.

Our team was grateful for the opportunity to step in and rebuild his ramp using proper, durable materials—creating a safer and more accessible way for him to get in and out of his home.

In his younger years, Mr. Phillips served his community as a volunteer firefighter. 🚒 Now, it’s our privilege to serve him.

At Habitat for Humanity of Hall County, we believe in supporting the people who make our community what it is—whether they’re currently working and serving or enjoying their retirement after years of giving back.

Through our Aging in Place program, we help local homeowners make necessary repairs and improvements so they can remain safely and comfortably in the homes they love.
For Mr. Phillips, a safer ramp may seem like one project—but it can make a meaningful difference in his everyday life. 💙

Because H.O.M.E. means everything.

What does HOME mean to you? 🏡💙

This time, we asked some of the people who help guide our mission forward — our Habitat for Humanity of Hall County Board Members.

Their answers are a reminder that home is so much more than four walls. It can mean safety, stability, family, belonging, memories, opportunity — and a place to dream about what comes next.

At Habitat, those answers are at the heart of why we do what we do.
