Goodwill’s GoodCareers (Walk-in Career Centers) offers an extensive array of employment services, free of charge to anyone seeking employment. Mission Moment: From Summer Internship to Continued Opportunity 🍎✏️

Zaria’s journey with TeensWork Alachua shows what the program is all about: a summer internship that can grow into real-world opportunities and long-term career pathways.

After making an incredible impression during her 2025 internship at Heavenly Kids Academy, Zaria was invited to stay on and continue working through the remainder of the summer until the start of the school year. Her professionalism, dedication, and natural connection with children quickly set her apart as a valued member of the team.

Zaria Boston graduated in spring 2026, wrapping up her TeensWork internship placement, but her journey isn’t ending there. Her former supervisor is bringing her back independently for the upcoming summer and will also support her as she works toward her Early Childhood Education certificate.

Zaria’s experience reflects the purpose of TeensWork Alachua: helping young people gain real work experience, build confidence, and see clear pathways forward.

Our current GoodTrades Residential Carpentry cohort is building a new garage for the forklifts used in our workforce training programs. This hands-on project gives participants real-world experience while creating a space that will support future forklift certification courses.

In early June, the Mayor's Youth at Work Partnership and TeensWork Alachua empowered over 850 students across Duval and Alachua counties with essential workforce and financial training. Topics included time management, communication, resume writing, interview preparation, emotional regulation in the workplace, college preparation, budgeting, banking, financial protection, and more!

We were honored to have incredible speakers from Campus USA, Santa Fe College, Infinite Dream Builders, Children's Trust of Alachua County, Genesis Family Resource Center, Florida Division of Workers’ Compensation, LYFEhouse, JAXUSA Partnership, Here Tomorrow, Wells Fargo, Junior Achievement USA, and Goodwill Industries of North Florida.

Finally, a huge shout-out to our generous sponsors, Kids Hope Alliance, Children's Trust of Alachua County, Campus USA, Domino's, A.L. Tax Preparation, and Southern Taste for making these trainings possible and for providing meals so our students stayed fueled and focused throughout the day. We'd also like to thank VyStar Credit Union for providing youth with access to banking.
