The State FFA Officers rounded out their week in Iowa last night with a few final stops and conversations before heading back to Florida today!
The team visited Gienger Farms in Gladbrook, where they spent time with Dennis and Jason Gienger, learning about their diversified operation, including hogs, soybeans, and corn.
They also had the opportunity to hear from Farm Credit about the important role agricultural finance plays in supporting farmers, agribusinesses, and the future of agriculture.
To close out the trip, the team enjoyed dinner and great conversation with the Tama County Pork Producers. We are incredibly grateful for their continued support of this program and for helping make this Iowa experience possible year after year.
Fun fact: If you have ever stopped by the FFA Pork Trailer at the Florida State Fair, there is a good chance Mr. Dennis was behind the grill serving up a pork loin sandwich or Iowa Chop!
After a week of farms, agribusinesses, processing facilities, agricultural research, and plenty of time on the road, we are headed back to Florida with a greater appreciation for the people and industries that keep American agriculture moving.
