🎶 Big news from The Gainesville Orchestra.

We are thrilled to announce that Greg Johnson has been appointed as our first-ever Executive Director, a newly created position that reflects just how much TGO has grown.

Greg is no stranger to this orchestra. He has served on our board for nearly 20 years, including 13 years as President — and he's not stepping away from that role. He'll now lead both as President of the Board of Directors and Executive Director, overseeing the daily operations of the orchestra.

With every concert selling out and demand at an all-time high, this next chapter is about growth! More concerts, more opportunities for our audience, and an exciting long-term vision that includes a new fine arts hall for the Gainesville community.

These are big goals. And we couldn't be more ready. 🎻

Please join us in congratulating Greg on this well-deserved appointment!

🎻 25 years of music. 25 years of Gainesville.

This season we celebrate a milestone — Maestro Evans Haile's 25th year leading the Gainesville Orchestra. A quarter century of programming that has challenged, moved, and delighted this community.

Thank you for being part of every single year. 🎶

🎶 Did You Know?

The word "orchestra" comes from the ancient Greek word for the space in front of a stage where performers would dance and play.

Fast forward a few thousand years and we're still doing basically the same thing — just with better seats for you. 😄

🌶️ Bartók. Respighi. One unforgettable night.

Paprika & Thyme on November 20th brings together two of classical music's most vivid, flavorful composers for an evening that is anything but ordinary.

💬 We have a question for you.

What was the first live orchestra performance you ever attended? Was it here with us, or somewhere else entirely?

Drop it in the comments — we love hearing your stories. 🎶

The story behind Beethoven's Fifth is as dramatic as the music itself. Come hear it live on October 30th when we open the 2026-2027 season with Revolution. 🎶

🎻 This is why we do what we do.

Meet the future of music in Gainesville. 🌟

Through our Mentor Program, professional Gainesville Orchestra musicians go directly into local elementary schools to provide free, hands-on violin instruction to 4th and 5th graders, many of whom would otherwise have no access to private music education.

Since launching in 2023, the program has grown to serve 150 students across two Gainesville schools. These kids receive free instrument loans, weekly lessons, and even get to perform on stage at our annual Children's Concert alongside professional musicians.

It's more than music. It's confidence, discipline, and opportunity, delivered by the only professional orchestra in Alachua County. 🎶
We are so proud of every single one of these students. 👏
