Happy (belated) National DNA Day from FLAGC - let’s celebrate the molecule that connects us all! April 25th marks the anniversary of when DNA’s double helix structure was discovered, as well as the completion of the Human Genome Project in 2003. We celebrate these incredible discoveries and look forward to continued advances in genetics!

Did You Know? Queen Victoria of England was a carrier of hemophilia!

April 17 is world hemophilia day. Hemophilia A/B and Von Willebrand disease are the most common bleeding disorders. Although more common in men, women can also be affected with bleeding disorders. Many women with Von Willebrand Disease with be undiagnosed for years after symptom onset.

The pediatric genetic counselors at Orlando Health participated in an event last week to help bring awareness to these conditions and educate children with bleeding disorders.
