Frederick County is putting continued action behind its commitment to safety!! 📣

The Safe Ride Foundation is one of several Frederick organizations to have been awarded a $36,000+ Grant through Frederick County’s Helping Empower Area Resources Together (HEART) program, an initiative designed to support local nonprofits navigating recent funding shifts and uncertainty.

This funding helps sustain and strengthen our transportation programs, from preventing impaired driving through SOS Safe Ride to expanding access to essential rides for low-income families through Rides for Good.

While the landscape of funding continues to shift, Frederick County has remained a steady partner in our mission to prevent impaired driving and expand access to transportation for those who need it most.

We’re grateful for that continued trust and committed to putting it to work where it matters most, out on the road, serving our community.

🌟 Meet the Team: Wilhem, Director of First Impressions! 🌟

We are thrilled to officially introduce one of our newer faces at the Safe Ride Foundation, Wilhem! As our Director of First Impressions, Wilhem’s role is the perfect blend of behind-the-scenes magic and community heroics.

You’ll find him:
Crafting outreach packages for our amazing donors and volunteers.
Heading out to local spots to provide breathalyzer tests
Building relationships and spreading our mission throughout Frederick, MD

Why the Safe Ride Foundation:
After hearing nothing but praise from friends in Frederick, Wilhem knew this was the place to be. His favorite part? "Getting to interact with such a wide variety of people! From our fantastic staff to the general public, promoting a positive message is always a joy."

Get to know Wilhem:
The Motivation: He is driven by a deep desire to leave a positive impact and be remembered for working hard to improve the lives of others.
The Biggest Fan: His mom! (Though he says the rest of us can keep trying for the top spot next year 😉).
The Cinephile: A massive movie fan, currently inspired by the inspirational tone and aesthetic of Wes Anderson’s ‘Rushmore’.
Fun Fact: He’s an avid harmonica player!

Top Secret... for now 😉: Our Annual Planning Meeting is a wrap!

Day 2 of the Safe Ride Foundation’s two-day staff retreat has come to a conclusion! 📝 After team-building at ClueIQ and setting a record, we got together to plan out 2026 at our Annual Planning Meeting. We’re currently working on some exciting initiatives and surprises, and our 10th year of the Safe Ride Foundation in Frederick, MD has never looked more promising!

A decade ago, we started with a simple mission meant to help keep our roads safe, and thanks to this incredible community, we’ve grown beyond our wildest dreams. While we can’t fill you in on what we discussed, the least we can do is give you a peek into the fun lunch we had at The Orchard after our escape room 😉

The Safe Ride Foundation has been named Bentztown’s Non-Profit of the Month for March- find the code below! 🥂✨

Bentztown isn't just about great music and Southern eats—they’re about giving back to the community we all love. Throughout the month, they’ll be helping us to cultivate healthier communities through safe and reliable transportation, supporting both SOS Safe Ride and Rides for Good.

What you need to know: Every Tuesday, Bentztown will be donating 20% of sales attributed to any guest who lets the staff know they are there to support the fundraiser with your unique code, which will be SR03. This applies to sales of alcohol, food, & non-acoholic beveragess during all open hours on Tuesdays, 11 am - 10 pm.

We gave working the 'knight' shift a whole new meaning! 🗡️🚗

The Safe Ride Foundation office staff took on Clue IQ’s ‘Excalibur’ escape room and didn’t just survive—we conquered. As part of our two-day staff retreat, we set a new record as the fastest completion as a team of 10, finishing the 60-minute quest in just under 30 minutes! We’re feeling extremely grateful for the opportunity to collaborate and can’t wait to show you what we have in store for the rest of 2026!
