Good Afternoon,

TRF often works in partnership with local nonprofits and organizations to promote and advocate for the good works and opportunities available in Frederick County. We have a very strong connection to the Coalition for a Healthier Frederick County and some board members volunteer for their Mental Health Workgroup and related boards.

Here is some of the important work and services that are taking place in our county. There might be some information here that interests you, or that you can relate to. This website contains links to the updates, community news, and other pertinent information.

Yesterday, March 8th, was International Women's Day. I came across this Ted Talk that is relative to the innumerable and often traumatic insults to the bodies, minds, hearts and souls of women that have endured the patriarchy and misogynistic treatment over the years.

As we know the term generational trauma, we also recognize the significance of how these traumas are often signaling us from years of these issues and the frustration of the fact that they are still signaling us today.

Empowerment and solidarity are tools that are easy to employ. Stay connected and as active as works for who you are.

Good Afternoon, it is a fact that we are in the midst of another “collective traumatic episode “ at this time. Regardless of where you land on the political spectrum, there is a tsunami of anger, fear, anxiety, confusion, and hopelessness surrounding us.

In order to better understand our own feelings and struggles, we must understand and accept that many of us are suffering.

If you, your family, friends, business, organization, place of worship, or other groups you support, would like to learn more about TRF, please contact us. You can leave a comment here or email us from our website. We will get back to you. We are here for you.

Good Afternoon TRF FBF and Followers,

You may have seen this post yesterday as a call for a donation for giving Tuesday.
Guess what?
We also accept your generosity and support every day of the week. I admit our current financial situation is far from meeting the needs of the organization, therefore; they are far from meeting the needs of our community. Mental health issues are identified as one of the leading stressors in our community. Many aspects of our day-to-day life, and history of trauma, impact our ability to meet our basic needs. Housing, systemic racism, lack of food and good nutrition, available access to healthcare for body, mind, and soul,, loneliness, and poverty all make life harder and more difficult for us.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to Trauma Responsive Frederick, right here and now.
We appreciate and love our community and the work that we do in tandem with our many partners and collaborators.

Thank you.
I am late in posting this important request today, which is Giving Tuesday. However, it's not too late for you to make a donation to our organization.
Please see the message below.

As we are moving into the holiday season, let's not forget that this time of year is often fraught with emotions, high expectations, low expectations, anxiety and insecurity.

We are often programmed to say things like, Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, all the while not recognizing that this offering is way off base for some of us.

Many of us are lonely, estranged from family and friends, dealing with existing mental health issues, and let's not forget the impact and collective trauma resulting from our most recent election. There is a contentious, divisive and dangerous gap that exists in our country. Many of us are fraught with fear and extreme confusion towards and about one another.

Taking all of this into account, please seek safety for yourself in supportive and compassionate people. Do not force yourself to be with people who do not support you, and most of all, understand you are never alone.

This is collective trauma and Trauma Responsive Frederick is here to help you without judgement and negative consequences.

Take care. You matter. It is what happened to you, not what is wrong with you.
