Two of On Our Own of Frederick CPRS's went to Annapolis on Wednesday, Shabazz Holt was in front of the House subcommittee hearing, and today, Jax Helms was before the Senate subcommittee hearing. Advocating for a 3% increase to the behavioral health budget for FY27. Jobs Well Done!

Great News For Frederick Bilingual Peers!

On Our Own partners with the Spanish-speaking community of Maryland on RAMP Grant project “The Peer Empowerment Partnership: Bilingual Pathways to Recovery and Employment.”
The RAMP press release was published this morning!!

​ANNAPOLIS, MD – Today, Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller announced the expansion of substance use recovery services across Maryland’s rural communities through $1.6 million in awards to prepare people who have lived experience in recovery for careers as Certified Peer Recovery Specialists.

On this Christmas Eve, Our Board, Paid Peers and Peer Members all just wanted to say thank you. Merry Christmas... And THANK YOU FREDERICK...

Because of you, healing has happened every day at On Our Own these past six months.
200 loads of Laundry, 165 peers received Accupuncture, 25 peers connected to inpatient treatment with our network of partners across the state.

A huge Christmas thank you!!!

For This Year's On Our Own Peers Annual Christmas Party!!!!!!

Way to go, Paul Foss and the Waterboyz for providing this year‘s turnkey Christmas extravaganza for 55 of our peers. Plus a big shout out to our host location at Asbury United Methodist  , continuing to show that “Healing happens in community“

Menu included appetizers, salad, breads, baked ziti, and pies for dessert. Each Peer was treated to a stuffed stocking with goodies galore, as well as an opportunity to get some warm clothing giveaways.

The biggest hit by far was photographs with Santa

Yesterday at 3:00 PM, our community came together for a beautiful Peer Memorial Service, lovingly led by Adrien Gehring. 💙

About 20 peers gathered in a circle around a simple, makeshift altar—creating a sacred space rooted in connection, remembrance, and shared humanity. One by one, peers shared memories and stories, honoring Jenn and her journey. There were moments of quiet reflection, heartfelt words, and songs sung together in solidarity and love.

We shared a reading of the Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, reminding us of peace, compassion, and our shared responsibility to carry light for one another.

We ended by inviting everyone to take a star to remind them of Jenn's Light in this world and the hereafter.

Healing truly happens in community. Thank you to everyone who showed up, held space, and supported one another today. 🕊️
