🏡🗝️Welcome Home Kentucky recently attended the 2026 Metropolitan Housing Coalition (MHC) Annual Meeting Dinner as an impact partner.

Together, we heard from Keynote Speaker Brian Goldstone, journalist, anthropologist, and author of Pulitzer Prize winning book, “There is No Place for Us: Working and Homeless in America.” His message embraced the reality that people don’t fall into homelessness, and systemic solutions can be simple: Keep Kentuckians in their homes.

Building connections with community members and taking a seat at the table is critical to building power! Let’s take action all year long! 🔋

Whenever you show up to the polls, it is a powerful thing to do, not only for you and your future but also for the millions of people around the nation that no longer have that right.

Your vote can influence decisions on issues that shape our daily lives. Let’s vote for issues that are important to us, like bettering housing, strengthening our communities, and ensuring a brighter future for all Kentuckians!

Listen to WHK member Trevor tell the story behind HB 338! We learned many lessons throughout this process and hope they can be used as a tool for organizers across the state! An important message that stuck out to us is that, “Fundamentally, Frankfort is not a system that is built for everyday people!”

We need change, and we need change now! Join our coalition organizations, and if you are eligible to vote, please show up to the polls on May 19th!

HB 338 may not have passed but we are walking away stronger than before. ✊

In the immediate aftermath, we allow ourselves to feel our disappointment. And we also know that while we may not have won the issue, our wins along the way are HUGE!

It was a roller coaster of a legislative session but the fight is not over. Please consider supporting and joining any of our partner organizations, who will keep growing the power we build every day. More information can be found in our bio!

Calling all Welcome Home Kentucky supporters–today and tomorrow are the final 2 days of the legislative session, the culmination of our past year of work! Send this post directly to anyone in your life who cares about everyday Kentuckians, and make a call yourself too!

We have reason to believe there is a real shot at finally getting our dismissed eviction expungement bill passed, in the final 2 days of the session.

HB 338 removes dismissed evictions from people’s records, which is nearly 45% of the 40,000 evictions filed yearly in Kentucky! It also prevents children from being listed on eviction filings. It passed the House with massive support in a vote of 95 to 0–so we know it has the political will to pass, if the Senate can just pick it up!

The KY state legislature is only in for two more days (April 14th and 15th).

Here’s what to do - take 5 min to dial 1-800-372-7181 today 7 am to 6 pm ET. You’ll get connected to an operator and then you say “I would like to leave a message for all Senators. Please prioritize and pass HB 338 immediately. We can’t go another year without real housing legislation - the House passed HB 338 95-0, and now it’s your turn!”

What’s going on with Welcome Home Kentucky’s eviction expungement bill HB 338? 🤔

After passing the Kentucky House with massive support in a vote of 95 to 0, HB 338 got added to a Senate housing omnibus bill, called SB 9. This mega bill, which combined several bills in one, became controversial and did not pass the KY Senate–but that’s not because of HB 338!

The KY state legislature is now on recess and comes back for two final days on April 14 and 15. Let’s keep the bipartisan, commonsense housing bill that will help tens of thousands of Kentuckians stay more stably housed every year! WE CAN’T WAIT ANOTHER YEAR for a housing bill with this much support!
